Good to have you onboard. I've saved your email address should i have a question. The local training department is divided between three. One does intermediate and advanced technical, one does basic technical and basic safety, the other does plant.
The tech guy and the plant guy are great, the basic tech and basic safety is not that great.

Shame to hear about the safety guy. Who, dare I ask do you work for, and where?

you may want to put your e-mail up as an image or use [AT] not @ or space it out so the spam bots dont get hold of it

Or he could just hang around the forum so that everyone benefits from his knowledge, you know, with this being a public forum and all.

Would you like to elaborate on what the proper disposal procedure is for detonators?

In reply to the detonator disposal problem. There are a number of ways to dispose of them, some enviro friendly some, well boys with toys springs to mind.

1/ Like someone posted, shoot them with air riffles. Stand well away (rule book module G2, "at least 30 yards" metres are for the French.

2/ One particular infrastructure maintenance company out the out of date dets on their track (private, about 30 yards of track at Sutton Courtney, that narrows it down) and ran their tamper over it, The Eddie King if I remember rightly. It was cheaper to run over the dets than to dispose of them properly, about twice the price of purchasing them.

3/ Or the boring correct way to dispose of them, return them to NRS or should I say Unipart Rail (other railway supply companies, do not exist) for them to dispose of the detonators, or should I say Railway fog signals.

personaly, throw them at either chavs or the gipos that steal the signalling and power cables on the railway.

These veiws are not necessarily the veiws of the management.
