It is interestng to see that ATOC's April presentation on "Franchisng and the Future" includes a 'slide' about Fares and Ticketing which summarises ATOC's priorities:
Fares and ticketing

•Fares - focus on structure, not raising revenue
•Regulation – scope to update, not abolish
•Strong support for smart ticketing
•“Fresh look” at ticket office and retailing
•Consider addressing some concerns re complexity

Comments
•Welcome willingness to consider some change
•Recognition of value in choice of fares
•Cautious tone on changes to structure, regulation, retail

The view expressed in the last 'Comment' certainly does express ATOC's view on regulation. The presentation even takes another opportunity to dismiss greater and/or more effective regulation on the page entitled Industy Reform with this simple Comment :
"Position on ORR not shared by TOCs".

I think we get the message! ATOC have some difficulties with Regulation, whether by the Department or the ORR.

Its just that most of the rubbish, oops I mean "authoritive press releases" from ATOC seem like they SHOULD be released on April 1st!
