Not seen this elsewhere but there is an ATW 153 (pretty certain its 353) currently visible in LNWR at Crewe now sporting the ATW "WAG" livery. You cant see the whole thing but its looks pretty smart. all the numbers and logos are now on it so guess it will be released soon.

Do you mean the WAG livery by "Executive" livery? This would be interesting, as all previous 153 repaints have been into the old Cream & Turquoise scheme.

Yes, that's the one as worn by the mark 3s and 158s.

Interesting

The 142s are also recieving the class 158 style updated moquette although the livery hasn't changed

As an aside any internal pics of an ex wessex trains atw 150?

No real difference. All that changed was the Wessex moquette replaced with the ATW 'tyre tread' type as fitted to all other ATW units. But apart from that, the interior is still the same, just in as bad if not worse condition than they way Wessex ran them.

It's on the move south right now - just arrived in Shrewsbury (presumably en route Cardiff but I can't see anything on RTT).

Should be out in a day or two I would think.

Anyway they havent long repainted some of the class 153's so I wonder why the sudden need to repaint them. I wonder if we will see the 175's being done in a year or two

What 153 is it that is being repainted? I know it's not 153312, as that was on a Maesteg working with 150245 yesterday, and it's not 153320 and 153367 as they're both recently been painted in the current old livery.

Also, what is the next 150 being painted? So far, 150213, 150236, 150251, 150253, 150255 and 150279 are all in the new livery.

Interesting, I'm pretty sure they were repainting 153s using the bad-old standard livery less than a year ago.

There were at least two painted in a subtle variation of the old standard ATW livery - 153320 and 153367 come to mind. On these the blue/turquoise extended above the orange cantrail stripe.

And now we have yet another variant on 153353 which by sheer coincidence is the only 153 that I have never photographed despite countless visits to Arriva Wales territory ........

slightly off topic I know, but I didn't want to start a new thread just for it (if it needs to be then I will or some-at)

Is it my eyes or did I see a 143 in the newer livery yesterday?

Don't know which one, it was on Canton when I passed on the 17:21 (Maesteg) home.

I think it was your eyes as there hasnt been any reports of the pacer fleet getting a new repaint into the new ATW/WG livery.

That said we didnt really have much notice of 153353 getting a repaint into its new livery so it could in theory be possible that a class 143 has been repainted

I can confirm class 143s are receiving new upholstery like the 158s

143624 has been repainted into the new ATW livery;however, it retains its Valley Lines interior. I was quite surprised to see it when I walked onto the platform at Pontypridd!

Here's a poor photo of it earlier at Cardiff Central with the 14:36 CDF-TRB.

Did it have the lighter coloured Arriva sweaps on the ends?

I wonder how long it will be before a 142 and a 175 are done in this livery.

Yep. I've attached another image below. Like I said though, its interior was still untouched from its Valley Lines refurbishment (in fact there are some body-side panels in the DMS near the tip-up seats that are in the original beige colour!)

It does surprise me that the 142s and 175s didn't have an external repaint into the new livery during their recent refurbishments. Also some of the 142s that haven't had the new upholstery and some of the 150s that have external repaints are looking rather tired and worn out inside!

By new upholstery on 142s do you mean the new or old arriva version

I meant those that haven't had the new grey upholstery and retain the previous blue Arriva upholstery. Some of them are looking rather worn inside now, and could do with a refresh. A bit of a digression, but 142085 is one that stands out as needing work on its interior in my opinion as it has been quite badly vandalised inside with markings.

Interestingly, 142002, 142006 and 142010 have one carriage in the new grey upholstery and another in the old blue upholstery. Does anyone know if there is any reason for this?

I am very surprised they are putting the executive livery on the Pacers, seems like an odd fit. I guess this is the new livery for Arriva Trains in general, and if they win any other franchises and use the Arriva brand, this livery will be used. The old green and purple seat covers are pretty ropey, they do need replacing.

If it was an 'executive livery' then it would have been rather wierd putting it on 150s too. I was a bit puzzled that they were painting 150s in the new scheme and 153s in the old, but now it seems everything will be given the new livery.

Was it ever described as 'Executive' by Arriva, or did we (collectively) choose that name as it first showed up on the Gerallt Gymro express?

Fair play 143624 looks nice in the new livery, will need to look out for it. 153353 too.

I've also YET to get a ride on any of the current eight 150s in the new livery!!!! I believe 150278 is the latest addition. What is the next 150 being due? 150213/236/250/251/253/255/278/279 are all done. I guess 150240 as I haven't seen it for a while!

I caught 150240 today on 2R14, 14:02 Penarth to Rhymney in the old Arriva turquoise and cream livery, so that hasn't been repainted yet. Out of coincidence 143624 was working 2R16, 15:02 Penarth to Rhymney too (I'm sure that's a service usually booked for a 150).

Ah right. I couldn't even say what 150 could be next.

Yes, this normally is a 150 duty.

143624 is today on the City Line, seen working the 0745 Coryton to Radyr.

Could it be that, with several 175s out of service due to accident damage during the period of the refurb, any planned re-paint was put on hold to reduce the time each (undamaged) unit was unavailable?
