Have to say I've never seen such a badly handled recruitment process. Had a few careers in my lifetime but never experienced anything like this, and reading a few older threads it looks like this is standard?

It's pretty par for the course in railway recruitment mate. Not to say I can't echo your sentiment though - I've also worked in a few different industries and never come across this 'style' before!

I applied for three trainee driver positions last year. Two of them, I got the 'your initial application has been successful, we will contact you..." Email and never heard anything else. Others who applied at the same time are currently on training courses. The third, I'm currently in the talent bank for.

If you want the job, keep dropping in applications and one day your number will be called.

That is pretty long time.
We got given a 28 day holding email for Manchester, then a 6 week holding email and now nothing. I believe a few from Manchester have progressed a little further but this particular depot seems to be bottom of the recruitment list. I'm assuming they have some still to process from the previous recruitment drive or there aren't that many drivers needed for this specific depot. We'll hear back eventually but I'm assuming it won't be for some time.

Yeah it's seems Manchester is not priority! Because I applied for Euston and I am waiting for DMI the last stage and they are still keeping you at the first stage! Don't know why they put the notice if they have the drivers?

Same for Polmadie. I have yet to see one person invited to do m7 and VsE for Polmadie. So will be a long wait I’m afraid.

Wondering if anyone can help me. So I have my stage 2 assessment on the 12th June for euston depot. The email says I will be doing my VSE and CBI there. Usually I thought the VSE was done at home and the CBI would be done after the group Bourdon etc. Is it possible that they made a mistake in the email as I don't want to be caught of guard. Any information I would really appreciate it guys

I believe the VSE is carried out in-person now!

I think you should call the OPC and ask about it, then you’ll know for sure. They are quite helpful :)

Anyone heard back for a DMI for Euston? Been over a month now still no contact
I waited 2 months for my DMI. And that was with HR and a Liverpool DM. So it wasn't dependant on DM availability from my chosen depot (as i was a Euston applicant).
Also there's some from the 2022 recruitment still awaiting DMIs (6+ months), though I dont believe any Euston applicants are waiting.

Really!
I heard some TOCs such as London Overground do this, mainly to stop cheating by putting it in a controlled environment.

Following the recent in person tests, I received my fail email to Avanti’s enhanced testing standard yesterday. I passed to the national standard.

On the test day, I did struggle with the beep counting test and I’m convinced it was the low frequency beep counting test where I fell foul but will hopefully find out on the feedback call. Counting beeps like that isn’t the same as listening out for doggy, or boys in a spoken paragraph.

Best of luck to everyone here still left in the process and to those that have also failed at some point.

Sorry to hear that, the practice material isn't that good.
