Thursday 6th June should be the final day of passenger service for a Class 390 fitted with the original Virgin interior.
390020 will be the final train to go into Alstom Widnes for refurbishment, ending service at Liverpool on Thursday night.
The train stands at Edge Hill depot all day Friday before replacing 390010 at Widnes on Friday night.

Anyone know if the 807s will be ready for December TT change? Is it likely the 3tph London - Birmingham service will be reinstated by then?

Looking at doing the 0901 Euston to Holyhead on sail rail. I believe this is still booked as a voyager, how long before it gets replaced by a Class 805?

The July 2024 issue of Modern Railways states that the first two 807s are hoped to be accepted in July and may be seen in service between London and Birmingham "this summer" as a balancing move for a training diagram.

There is a very short conversion course for traincrew between the 805s and 807s.

I think it's six 805s now in service with Avanti since the timetable change on Sunday.
So you'd expect an equivalent number of Voyagers to be returned off lease.
Speaking of voyagers coming off lease , I wondered how true it is that as EMT intercity , start to get their first class 810's which are a newer design inside and out to the previous design, a tweaked front cab and nose , and light cluster design, oddly the ' coaches ' are shorter . This is odd given the superior to the voyager , the class 222 meridian's , as stipulated by the lease operator .
Have seen EMT fully refurbishing their 222's.
And I read also these may be headed for Scotland .
They've had a full refurb and new interiors .
I guess Scotrail would need only to change seat logos perhaps .

I think they are to supplement the HST's .
But also read Voyagers , may join them , perhaps the tilting 221's ( though I heard they'd need to reinstall the tilt system ).
This was me turned about the 222's in a rail magazine , as per the 221's , I gather the meridians are better than the other voyager types .
And Chiltern were mentioned as a possible operator of the 220's , the four car units would maybe useful on Trips between Bristol and Cardiff to Milton Keynes and Bletchley.on EWR
But definitely not suited to replacing the 68/mark3's .
I can imagine a few operators would be happy to take the voyagers .
I recall taking a trip in them , and found them not too bad , but felt a wee bit small , inside .
Maybe because they tried to copy the interior of the Pendalino .
The new 805/807 and 810's all have newer and better seats with more padding, the 810's , Emt engaged with passenger and operator focus groups , when designing seats and interiors , and will.have better lighting , and the seats although thinner and lighter , resemble the older comfortable original style hst/mark 3 seats ..

When is the second Liverpool - London due to commence ?

There is a power supply issue north of Crewe. So no 807s on Liverpool or Blackpool until that's resolved.

No idea when the 805s will start on the routes. See this thread:

Avanti have announced all the 11car pendolinos have now had bogie refurb

The largest revamp of train bogies belonging to Avanti West Coast's Pendolino fleet has reached a major milestone.
  • Railway town, Crewe, is home to largest train bogie revamp by Alstom
  • Project is part of heavy overhaul of Avanti West Coast’s Pendolino fleet
  • Completion of bogie sets on all 35 11-carriage Pendolino trains marks major milestone
The biggest overhaul of bogies belonging to the UK’s hardest working train fleet has reached a major milestone with the initial phase of project completed.
The first part of the work to overhaul 1,148 bogies – a framework with wheels that sits underneath the train carriage – across Avanti West Coast’s Pendolino fleet has been completed by the UK’s leading train supplier, Alstom.
All 35, 11-carriage Pendolinos have had their sets of 22 bogies examined and reconditioned to give them a new lease of life after clocking up over 750,000 miles – the equivalent distance of travelling to the moon three times.
In just one year, 770 bogies have been revamped by Alstom’s facility in Crewe – a centre of excellence for component repair and overhaul.
Each week the bogies and traction motors (an electric motor that generates the power to rotate the wheels of a train) are transported by road to Crewe, where they are disassembled, and their subcomponents refurbished to like-new condition.
The bogie frames are separated from the wheelsets and washed to remove excess dirt and oil, then stripped into component parts that are reconditioned before being painted and reassembled.
It is part of a wider programme of work on the Pendolinos – known as a heavy overhaul, which each week sees component parts including, pantographs, train control and information systems, batteries, and valves reconditioned or replaced. In one week, Alstom’s teams in Crewe and Manchester will replace 24,456 individual fixings and 9,511 parts, as well as repair 249 items.
The heavy overhaul, which follows the award-winning £117 million investment programme to refurbish the Alstom-built Pendolino trains, is designed to ensure the fleet continues to provide a reliable service.
A team of 35 highly skilled workers employed full-time are dedicated to the project at Crewe – many of them have a family connection.

Both 390/1s I travelled on today were starting to show wear and tear especially with the arm rests.

Announcement today from Angel Trains and Cordel Group about adding track geometry monitoring to 390s

Anyone know what is being done

Cordel Group PLC (AIM: CRDL), the Artificial Intelligence platform for transport corridor analytics, is pleased to announce another contract win through our partnership with Angel Trains Ltd.

Cordel's Locate system will be used to accurately pinpoint track geometry data gathered from High Speed Class 390 tilting trains, traveling at up to 125mph in passenger service, on Network Rail's West Coast Main Line.

The project will provide a more cost-effective and frequent alternative to the current dedicated infrastructure monitoring trains, which are supplemented by boots-on-ballast inspections. Cordel will deliver accurately located network information to infrastructure engineers, to enable track maintenance to be optimised.
