After getting signed off (probation period 6 months) you can apply for other positions. Csa2 is your foot in the door. This sets tfl apart from other dead end jobs.

Has anyone received the contract yet?

I imagine they’ll send that a couple of weeks before surely?

I’ve got the contract already. I’ve called Katie cause I had to resign from my current job and the same day I’ve got a email from HR with the contract.

Thank you.

I will have to just wait as I've called her twice in the last few weeks and I don't want to keep on asking the same thing. I was told its most likely in Autumn for me but if its in July that would be a bonus.

Plus could it matter where you live, like they have a planned station for you and only when they start taking staff for that station you start the course?

Yeah I live in west London so maybe they need more people this side of London I guess, can’t wait to find out where I’ll be based. I have two tube stations really close to my house so ideally it’s them

I'm near Heathrow so il probably get any of the Hounslow stations, Hatton Cross, Northolt or Ealing Broadway. Probably something this side of London.

What side of London do anticipate getting based on where you live?

I was trying to find out how they’re placing us on the station but what they’ve told me is that they’re trying to check where do you live but because we’re getting free transport they can place us depending of business needs.

They say "we will be sympathetic to where you live but can't guarantee" you can swap with someone on the same training class. I would prefer a busy station, you get to learn a lot more in short span of time and time goes quickly too.

I'm sorry to say, I've never met a single member of staff that got placed near their home (other than by sheer coincidence). Likely stations are Kings Cross, Waterloo, Victoria, Oxford Circus, and the Heathrow group. Keep your fingers crossed. 8-)

I wouldn’t be surprised if we would rotate between the stations as well..
Stations are 'grouped', so you typically work a roster that covers all the stations within that area, and occasionally across the wider 'cover group'. I'll have a look around to see if I can find the groups and will post it if I do.

I’m still hoping for a station close to my place  For now, I don’t wanna think how to get somewhere far for the shift starting at 5 o’clock

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, but there are always the staff taxis for the dead earlies and dead lates.

CSA2’s don’t have a 5am start apparently, someone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, the earliest we will start is 7am and the latest we will finish is 11pm

CSA1’s do the dead early shifts and the dead late shifts - they normally start about 5:15ish or just before and I know they offer taxi’s to them station that picks you up from the closest tube station or something like that.

Really? CS2’s don’t have to do early or late shifts? That would help a lot if you live far. But anyway if they’re offering taxis then it’s great as well.

The original plan for CSA2s was indeed as you described. But LU gradually expanded the role of the CSA2s - and getting them in early and staying late soon became the norm on some areas.

Have a quick look at the 2018 Victoria roster (I'm not sure if that is still current or not) - CSA2 on week 1 is 17.20 - 00.50hrs.

Then by week 7 they are doing 05.10 - 12.40hrs.

There are some areas that have early starts and late finishes for CSA2 grades, although the frequency of these is generally lower than for CSA1. There is also the possibility that you may get caught for the early starts on cover duties in order to keep minimum numbers at stations should a CSA1 not be available.

The only stations that have Night Tube CSAs in that area are Heathrow T123, Hatton Cross, and Hounslow West.

It doesn’t normally work like this anyway, they will simply call you up when they have a training course, based on how highly you scored in the assessments.

Hi All,

I got my role play coming up for Night Tube. Is there any advice on what you need to do

Yeah I was wondering what could possibly make us fail the initial training stage cause apparently this does happen!

What are we to expect from the first week at Ashfield house?

We have passed 6 stages to get this far. It will be OK. Think positive.

LU training is exceptional, but that excellence also demands brilliant candidates - which you have already demonstrated by getting this far.

From memory, there is a Fire Assessment which you can fail on the second day, and Rules and Procedures, which you can fail, and a final sort of consolidation test at the end (which covers everything you have been assessed on up to that point.

The training is intense, but new candidates are already the cream of the crop - you were probably selected out of 20k applicants, so you are half way there. As long as you pay attention, take notes, do a little homework, and ask questions, you will all be fine.

It is a well oiled machine that is specifically designed to get people through as quickly as possible and with the required knowledge.

It won't happen unless you're intentionally trying to fail. The trainers will make sure that you pass.

Yeah I guess it’s a reflection on them too if that happened which it won’t

Thanks guys for all the help. It’s good to know what to expect. I’m starting in June and I’m a bit nervous what I can expect but thanks to this forum at least I have an idea. I think everyone here was waiting too long for that to gave up on a training so I’ll try to do my best to pass everything ;) Good luck to everyone!:D
