I got an email from eBay this morning, saying, "It's Black Friday. Act accordingly." I will therefore go to various online forums and complain about the tacky, Americanised, capitalist, corporate dystopia that this country is turning into. ;)

I'm so glad I'm working the night shift tonight. All electricals shifted upstairs, so all I have to worry about until 6 AM is self-serve and my Pokémon Sun.

I hate Black Friday.

I just looked at the website of a well known sofa company to see if one we've had our eye on for a few weeks was any cheaper today.

It's not.

It's the exact same price as it was when we looked at it in store three weeks ago with the exception that it has "for today only" emblazoned across it.

Which endorses my point about knowing your product which you obviously do.:p

Its an excuse to sell off end of line stock from what I saw. Non smart TVs seem to be the big discount of the day looking around.

I don't go out my way to participate in Black Friday but the rug I have been looking at the last couple of weeks is £72 cheaper today, so I'm happy :)

A rug is a great example of what you can get as a Black Friday deal. All the little stuff can be bought at this period, then all the large things (like a PC !) can be bought around Christmas.

You can get turkies as part of a Black Friday deal, right?

Is Caveat Emptor the Latin for Black Friday?
Answered my phone this morning to hear a recorded voice saying my wife (name inserted into the pre-record) may have had 'suspicious activity' on her Barclaycard a/c and to phone an 0800 number to get details. So my wife looks up the relevant Barclaycard number on their official website (an 0800 one but not the same one) and rings them, to very quickly establish it had been a genuine call. The reason for the call was that she had just spent a sum of money with a supplier which was significantly LESS than she normally spent with them! She explained that, normally, it was a case of spending so much to get free delivery but, just for the one day and on one item which she wanted to buy, there was free delivery. Barclaycard apologised, explaining it was typical of one sort of scam that the scamster spent a small amount to see if it went unchallenged before moving on to a larger amount. My wife felt reassured in a way, but unnerved in a way too; so much for personal privacy!

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet on the thread, but I have never seen so many advertisements on TV, on one after each other, that make mention of Black Friday or a so-called play on words to achieve a similar effect.

Even the better quality Houses of Mammon have indulged themselves in like manner..<(

Well, is anyone having withdrawal symptoms yet? If so, you need to head over to Amazon. Their ten day black Friday sale (which allegedly ended yesterday) has been extended for another two days... yay. :|

I do wonder why I had so many e-mails yesterday wishing me a "happy" black Friday. Am I meant to have been celebrating something?

My wife said she deleted about 200 e-mails from her computer over four or five days relating to Black Friday. I never do e-mails on mine so never have to worry about deleting any (for all I know I might have 2,000 pending)

So now Flybe have Cyber Monday with flights available from £19.99 compared to the headline price of £24 on Black Friday.

On checking the price of the £48 return I got for Southampton is it now £40 return no.....

It's £85 as it was after BF....

Has my £68 return to Birmingham from Glasgow been reduced ....no it's more expensive than when I booked it.

All they are doing is knocking out seats they can't get rid of which just goes to show the old adage about knowing your product holds true.

Never mind the intrepid Butts has sourced a Daytrip to Belfast from Edinburgh for the princely sum of £39 odd - a genuine bargain :p
