As a counter to the thread on the stations with the most TOCs (and thought it would be better as a separate thread) - which are the busiest stations served by only one train operating company.

Try to avoid London stations if possible as they are kind of obvious.

Take whatever meaning of the word "busy" you want (most trains, most passengers, largest place served, whatever)

I'll start with Slough - 4.935million passengers in 08/09 according to wikipedia, but only served by FGW.

In the last figures they included PTE products for the first time which showed the REAL amount of people travelling. Particularly in Merseyside with a very strong PTE, these products account for a very high proportion of revenue.

Most trains per platform :
Partick / Hyndland

Is that the busiest section of double track railway in the UK, or just Scotland?

They do have to win it for the busiest mainline platforms, though. Every 4/5 minutes off peak, with quite a few extras during the rush hours. I can't think of anywhere else in the UK with that frequency and only two platforms (metro systems aside).

Nothing else beats it in Scotland, but there are a few in England but many of these don't have a station and those that do not all the trains stop there

Add to that the occasional ECS working through Partick and it works out at about 40 trains per hour (in total)

I remember visiting there once (when I was younger) and managed to see all that days Argyle and North Clyde EMUs in under three hours

The busiest stretch of double track will surely be the two track bottleneck at the up end of London Bridge towards Waterloo East?
