It's worth noting that Plus Bus in Chester is £2 per day (or £1.35 for railcard holders) and covers all Arriva and First bus services in the Chester area.

Also, Arriva are advertising a £1.00 return fare on their services between the railway station & city centre, (services 1,3,4, X44 & X55).

Interestingly, GHA appear to have registered a service on this route as well, starting in April but finishing at the end of the same month?

Apparently, Aintree Coachlines will be introducing a Sunday service from 7 May 2012.

1 month trial presumably. I expected there to be multiple operators on the same route once the Aintree Coachlines service started and the free First bus was withdrawn.

It does say GHA registration cancelled.

New service effective from Monday 2nd April, service withdrawn from Friday 20th April, so it's actually a 3 week trial. They have to give more than 3 weeks notice to withdraw a service so have given notice of it's withdrawal before it's begun. It after the end of the service they apply to restart the service they then it could start again in June, in time for the school/college summer holidays. The 3 week period coincides with the Easter period. GHA know what they're doing.

A lot of bus services subsidised by councils are getting the chop now because of the council funding cuts in the credit crisis.
Where i live in basingstoke which is about 100,000 population now the buses all finish just after 9pm every day.

Here in Hartlepool, we have a bus service every ten minutes throughout the day from Seaton Carew in to the town, which gets cut off at 6.20 on an evening, there are no buses on sundays.

People perhaps just don't travel into town centres in the evenings as much as they used to apart from weekends; and certainly where I live it's cheaper and more convenient to take a taxi if there's a group of four.
