Following today's announcement that West Midlands Railway have withdrawn their fleet of 153s, I thought it might be an idea to have an updates thread for the class.

East Midlands Railway: 153308, 311, 319, 355, 357, 376, 379, 381, 383-385.
Northern: 153301, 304, 307, 315-317, 324, 328, 330-332, 351-352, 358-360, 363, 378.
ScotRail: 153305, 370, 373, 377, 380.
Transport for Wales: 153303, 306, 309-310, 312-314, 320-323, 325-327, 329, 333, 335, 353, 361-362, 367, 369, 372, 382.
Off lease: 153302, 318, 334, 354, 356, 364-366, 368, 371, 374-375.

PRM compliant railcars are 153303, 312, 320, 323, 325, 327, 329, 333, 353, 361-362, 367, 369.

Any updates/corrections are welcome.

Are they all there, as I thought some of the 153s were being stored at Barrow Hill as well?
All the 153's that were at Barrow Hill have since moved. It was only temporary while the reduced timetable was operating.

Heard a rumour recently that the Northern 153s will now be running until Dec 2021, attached to a compliant unit.

153318 and 153368 are also listed among the Angel list. These are with 153372 and 153382 which have already arrived about a month or more ago. The link is shown in the 143 withdrawal thread

Until ScotRail introduce their units into service, those are the only operators of the class at the moment, with Greater Anglia and West Midlands Railway having parted with theirs within the last year, and GWR too not long before.

No EMR 153s in passenger service today, just 2 doing driver route refresh runs this morning on the Pinxton diversion. Possibly a first since 1991/1992 for the East Midlands?

The TfW renumberings have now begun for the unmodified units. 153321 is now running round as 153921. There could be more as there is at least 153935 on the system too but ive not seen that one.

So just for my clarity, the 13 non PRM units will now start to be changed to 1539xx. Will these units eventually receive PRM mods? Thanks

Yes that is correct, on the PrM front i think its a case of watch this space. Staff have been told they wont be but magazines have said they will be

If you’re referring to the 153s it seems a pointless exercise renumbering them as none of Northern’s 153s are PRM compliant.
it comes down to the fleet sizes tfw historically and still does to an extent have very few trains for a very large patch i think ultimately a few more 153s will need prm mods and just hook them to the non prm units but that's all covered in a different threat for tfw

Why are they being renumbered to /9s if the dispensation letter says they're /0s...?

I think the bottom line to easier identify the non PRM units from the PRM converted units, I think it's as simple as that.
That was the reason given for renumbering from 1533xx to 1530xx, however now it seems that they're being renumbered from 1533xx to 1539xx, despite the dispensation letter listing them as 1530xx, so I'm wondering why they're being renumbered to 1539xx rather than 1530xx.
