There are only 10 315’s left 315837/838/839/844/847/848/853/854/856/857

315819/820 are off lease and going for scrap at Newport on Monday

Reported in TfL Elizabeth line Board minutes that 22 Full length 9car 345s will have been phased in on Liverpool Street services by end of December.

Therefore probably a maximum of 6 weeks (could be lot less) of 315 operations remaining. Personally I would be surprised if any 315s survive in new timetable in 3 weeks time.

There was previously an implied view that a small number of 315s would stay on to May 2022 to balance out the previously unexpected use of 7-car 345s on the extra west side peak workings.

The question would appear to be whether 68 345s (ie not 018/019) is enough to cover the diagrams needed. If 22 is the number of 345s needed east side, then I make the total 345 requirement to be:
22 east side
16 west side
18 tunnel
4 west side 5Gxx workings.

So that would be 60 from 68. It doesn't seem unreasonable that they could do without the 315s. The only question is whether there is any desire to test a more frequent service in the tunnel than 12tph at some point on a sustained basis. Doing that might need the 315s to be retained although I get that four pairs of units don't stretch very far - eg only offset the west side peak 7-car workings

We were told the the 315s will still be leased until Dec 22 to cover for any 345 issues. However, day to day booked passenger usage will be much limited / non existent from early next year.

Two more full length 345s should be transferring /have been transferred over to the East this morning, so that's two more full length diagrams for tomorrow replacing reduced length 345s.

Yes. Thank you above ops for the above posts. And updates does remind me.
However that on Friday 20th November 2021. Evening only one pair off 315s. One working was out. Was getting in as many short hop shenfield to Stratford London non prm 321s in as possible.
For a final final bash.
But duly noticed only one pair off 315s out.
Also around the back off ilford E.M.U.D Depot in the distance very far sidings did appear a pair pan down. But that pair might not be the next to go.

Current diagrams have two 315 pairs out in morning peak but only one in the afternoon, although this set remains out through the evening. There are also a couple of ECS moves to cycle units between Ilford, Aldersbrook and Shenfield.

Can verify 837/839 as had these from Liverpool Street to Shenfield yesterday night. Starting to stand out among an otherwise full station of 710s, 745s and 720s...

Saw 837/853 on 30 November.
Saw 844/857 and 839/848 on 9 December.
And on 14 December it was 837 with 839, so they are mixing them up a bit.

Hoping these units stay on well into 2022!

I saw a few several days ago. The only one in a reasonable condition was 844, it also ran extremely well!

Ive not travelled on them since new but Ilford are turning them out in tip top conditions over the last few years given their age

I thought the remaining ten were staying until May
A few that aren’t being used are still stored at Ilford I believe - plus with only one diagram a day, no point keeping them around longer than necessary.

Confirmed on time through goring and Streetly. On its final journey to Newport Simms.

315837/838/839/847/848/853/856/857
Thank you for the update.
Will these 8 remain for the time being as earlier mentioned upthread?. Ie the 8 to remain for a period off time into 2022.
Or has plans changed recently or with the possibility off further withdrawals very soon due to less sets needed due to less need for peak hour services ie covid once more?.

Anyone know the exact date in 1980 the first 315 entered service?
An esteemed source on a former Yahoo Group confirmed it as Monday 8th December 1980, on a day very much overshadowed by a certain assassination. The first units in service were paired as follows: 802+811, 806+804 and 808+809.
