Any ideas what this Ramsgate EMUD to Ilford EMUD working today is for? Is it a coincidence that the trailing load is 315 tonnes or are there Class 315s in Ramsgate on an OAP seaside holiday?
If it runs (which is unlikely, bearing in mind it was auto-activated 2 hours before booked departure), it would probably be a Southeastern EMU, possibly either a 466 or a 375/3.

You're right - the train hasn't yet set off, so appears not to be running.

Looks like 315816 is clinging on to dear life at Booth’s as a tweet from the scrapyard shows the unit pretty much still intact for now! Though given that some ex-GWR HST Mk3s arrived at the yard for dismantling today I doubt 816 will be around for much longer

There is a section (4.1 on page 26) in latest TfL Board papers referring to the 7-car 345s going to be moved from West (which since 18 May is using 9-car) to Shenfield service to replace 315s

Therefore appears latest strategy is replacing 315s soon, but I’m not sure how this will affect Liverpool Street platform changes. However it does say Whitechapel and Liverpool Street now handed over, so maybe will be a diversion there, or simply no peak extra trains for a while

That's a bit of a pain. Are there enough seven cars to wipe out all the remaining 315s?

Off topic for a withdrawl thread, but MTR 315842/847 gone on hire to Arriva Rail London (ARL) today due to 4x315 being unavailable following yesterdays dewirement.

Yes, one 7-car 345 eliminates 2 x 315
there are still few 7-car units in West (even after lengthening others)

The 710s are also entering service on the NE London services

I have forgotten details, but isn’t there an end date on the PRM exemptions On 315s

Looks like I'll have to make them a priority once any sort of movement is allowed.

And there’s been another dewirement this morning at the same location. 315836 has lost its pantograph, while working at the rear of 2U34 11.00 Liv St - Enfield Town, with 315825 the leading unit.

Two questions:

How many 315 units have been scrapped so far?

are their any 315 units with theC6 headlights still in service?

Murmurs of coming back for July service increase. Watch this space I guess.
Hope not! Even pre-Covid all 70 345s had long since been built and delivered so not ideal 40 year old trains been re-instated while majority of the 345s have for many months (well before Covid) been sitting around sitting around doing nothing stored either Worksop or Old Oak Common.

They are ARL units, so Overground.

Might be worth clarifying that ARL stands for Arriva Rail London. Which is the company operating the London Overground concession.

It's worth noting that not all 70 345s are in service yet. The 9 cars still have issues.

yes although its 3 years since the first class 345s entered service so slow introduction sadly but of course these are very complicated trains.
315 are still required to run some TfL/Crossrail services during the Liverpool p16-18 works (now scheduled for 2021) and to allow the 7 cars (can't work in the CBTC signaled tunnel section) to be lengthened to 9 car.
Hence some 315s will be around for a while.

For LO the 315 leasing costs are lower than the 317s and the 315s are better at keeping to time than 317s, hence ARL/TfL aiming to ditch the 317s first there is possible.
