Do you happen to know when 339 and 340 went to Ely please?
Tuesday 05th July 2022 with 37884 CEPHEUS for haulage.
Also documented post 992 above as well. Most certainly are at Ely. Also
317719 went for scrap to Newport Simms as one unit also in April. As a one unit move. On a Friday in April as well.

Also to help your records further 317719 to go with my other post about 339 340.
317719 . Went for Scrap on Friday the 29th April. Again with 37884 doing the Honours.. With all the 3 units involved.
See post 801. I have that on Video. Alongside another pair of 317s in the Bay platform at Cambridge North .

1. Friday 29th April 2022.
37884 0951 Ely mlf Papworth to Newport Simms with 317719.

2. Tuesday 05th July 2022 .

37884 . 1411 5G56 Cambridge to Ely
317339 317340.

317508+317343 are currently stabled in Orient way. End of July departure is what's recently been suggested.
Same near enough to my sources as well. Extended mid July to end July.
Anytime in that timeframe. Mainly 745 reliability as 720s are being used for doubling up elsewhere. However a 745 as just failed today Sunday 10th July 2022. On the Stansted Express.
So maybe expect the Orient way pair of 317s out in service as a substitute..

Nothing showing on Tiger as 8 coaches - though I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong in this case!
343 and 508 on the 1158 Cambridge Nth.

STP paths for tommorow. Could be entirely wrong but everything else is showing pathed as 710, 720 etc etc...

Could this be the 317s on a Stanstead turn?

ECS off Orient Way

Following diagram beginning with:

EDIT:
After working one way to Stanstead, it looks like they run empty to Harlow before working Stratford Shuttles

That's been happening for weeks. Booked a class 720.

Apparently 343 and 508 failed at Cambridge this afternoon and havnt gone anywhere since.

Could this then have been the final day?
That's interesting because on Live rail record it did show a Vstp 720 move from Orient way to Cambridge in the afternoon. Most likely a 720 did replace the 317s.. Maybe 720 was surplus all along. At Orient way.
However fair play maybe 317s was used by Anglia as a substitute or a another fair well run.

Pretty sure 337(?) and 338 are still available for service no?
Yes. As far as I know. But if only two 317 remain if they was to. They fail in service. What could assist them.
Most likely the 37 Orient way rescue locomotive.
Probably not worth the risk.
Most likely the hot weather got a bit to much for the old veteran units.
Maybe the units was okay.
Ie a case of knock out midstream by a 720. Hopefully not withdrawn just yet.

It was an Air-con fault in one of the cabs so in the hottest week of the year so far I can’t say I blame the driver for failing it. Fingers crossed a fitter can batter it back together if they’re needed again!

What time was this? I rode them from Tottenham Hale to Cheshunt on the 15.28 off Liverpool Street - quite by chance as it happened as I was positioning myself to bag a 720 for haulage!

I remarked to the driver ( 317 508 was leading ) when I got off at Cheshunt that it would probably be my last ride on a 317; he responded that it would probably be his last chance to drive one...

Not sure what numbers, but a 317 pair is working West Anglia services out of Stratford today it seems. Currently on the 2O63 Hertford East to Stratford.

It's a bit of a shame that GA are not doing a farewell tour, similar to Southern with the 455s, to raise money for charity.

Liverpool Street is strange without the 317s around but like all things, nothing lasts forever, they have lasted a couple years longer than originally planned (due to the late arrival of the 720s).

If you read the Anglian statement it says the last "planned" use in service at that they will continue to provide unplanned cover until the end of the month / next few weeks.

Is there a link to the statement? The Wikipedia dragons will not tolerate a brief word from Richard Clinnick as a source for updating the 317 page
