345023 was placed in between several wagons and came through Derby twice earlier. 67002 on the front. Looked rather out of place with wagons in front and behind.

Yeah that was a delivery from Derby to Old Dalby for testing. Well now the barrier wagons have made it to Old Dalby, maybe they will head to Crewe at some point to pick up this bleedin' 345 and not just sit there wasting everyone's time and money.

And sadly, the barrier wagons are heading back to Toton. Maybe one day we will see 345's at Maidenhead. Probably when they enter service in 2019 :frown:

There were 2 Class 345s on Crewe LNWR carriage shed on Tuesday night approx 2200, not sure which sets but one had gone today.
Anyone know where? Perhaps eventually for testing to the West of Paddington!

Not sure about the destinations of those particular units but I believe GWML testing is due to begin imminently.

I heard deliveries of 9-cars to OOC aren't far off so maybe the start?

Also, there was a GBRf 66 peeking round the back of the new Bombardier shed at Ilford; anyone know what this was doing there?

One unit is definitely there for certain, that being 345020. Was due to be taken by 66090 to Bescot Down Side yesterday, however there was some form of issue that couldn't be resolved in the five hours it spend there and instead 66090 took the barrier wagons to Bescot without the unit, which is still at Crewe C.S.

No idea when they will reschedule the move to take place, would be better if Rail Ops Group just took over and sent a 37 up there from Leicester L.I.P. to drag it to Maidenhead. Then they can start testing as they should have done on Monday.

The other unit could be 345022, which I haven't heard much about. I know 345021 is testing in the Crossrail tunnels at Abbey Wood, and 345023 is at Old Dalby testing before delivery.

Am I correct in thinking the current 3 diagrams of the 345s involve:

2W47 1724 Shenfield to London Liverpool Street
2C74 1810 London Liverpool Street to Gidea Park
5C74 18+40 Gidea Park to Gidea Park C.H.S.

2C57 1732 Gidea Park to London Liverpool Street
2W52 1807 London Liverpool Street to Shenfield
2W65 1854 Shenfield to London Liverpool Street
2W78 1952 London Liverpool Street to Shenfield
2W87 2044 Shenfield to London Liverpool Street
2W00 2140 London Liverpool Street to Shenfield
5V81 2234 Shenfield to Ilford E.M.U.D.

2W38 1717 London Liverpool Street to Shenfield
2W55 1804 Shenfield to London Liverpool Street
2C80 1850 London Liverpool Street to Gidea Park

Or have they changed since?

345 014 and 345 015.

Thanks Peter for the set numbers.

Do we know why some of these 345s have been going onto Crewe LNWR? Short term storage awaiting transfer or perhaps for the Wheel lathe!

I know 345 001 was on there for quite a few weeks a while back.

Probably getting some testing mileage in on the WCML like the new 387s do from Bletchley. It is quite hard to accumaulate mileage on the GEML/GWML at the moment with all the works going on.

Yes looks like that is the case as both sets 14/15 are back on LNWR at Crewe this morning.
Must only be allowed out through the dead of night unlike the GWR 387s which you see quite often.

So where is 345020 then? 9 Car set that's meant to be at Maidenhead Carriage Sidings, storage by day and testing by night. No 345 in there currently, has never been!

You must be exceptionally lucky. I'm not the only passenger to notice the advertised "11" trains are mysteriously missing in service...

There's only ever 3 or 4 out a day, sometimes fewer. Between the 18:07 to Shenfield and 18:10 to Gidea Park evening peak departures, at least one of these has been a 345 almost every weeknight since September.

In response to the above (without quoting the whole thing again), I've seen 345s on 2W19 over the last few days. Do you have this one down too? I may have missed it.

Big News!

Finally, a Crossrail Class 345 (345023) has made it to the GWML, well not quite, Wembley in fact.

DB Cargo Class 67029 took 345023 from Old Dalby to Wembley Euro Freight Ops Centre today as 5X20:
RTT Link: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/H10707/2017/11/06/advanced

My video:

Tomorrow, the unit will travel behind 67029 from Wembley Euro Freight Ops Centre to Old Oak Common Reception Line under the following schedule:
http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R10335/2017/11/07/advanced

Upon arrival, the unit will most likely sit until the evening when it will either commence GWML testing between Old Oak and Maidenhead or head to the Maidenhead Carriage Sidings for storage.

345023 sat on the flyover to the London end of the Old Oak Common depots. Passed it around 1305 and by then there was no loco attached at the depot end of the consist, and a DRS livery 57 was moving towards the depot on the line immediately next to the flyover. There was still a 67 at the other end (top of the flyover)

To the points above about the number of units in service, going past Ilford depot on Monday morning during the peak and there were at least six 345's sitting in the sidings, likely more. Feels like a very slow roll out in to service.

The diagrams I posted above produced this evening

345010 worked 2C56 1650 London Liverpool Street to Gidea Park
345007 worked 2W38 1717 London Liverpool Street to Shenfield
345005 worked 2C74 1810 London Liverpool Street to Gidea Park

I didn't see any others in service - however 345010 had swapped with another unit at Liverpool Street before working the 1500 to Shenfield.

If it's 15 x 7 car for now, I assume those 15 will be 005-017 and 2 from 001-004. Though 001 & 002 are still under test and probably need a complete fit-out. 003 & 004 are nowhere to be seen though.
