anyone know why 3223/3224 worked a St Pancras Intl to Ashford Intl and then back to St Pancras on 28/04/18?

Are you sure it was 3223 / 3224? 3224 has been running around with 3217 recently, either way 3224 is sick with a difficult to diagnose aliment and has made several runs to Ashford in the recent weeks - all in the hope of finding the root cause of the problem.

The 'other' issue at Ashford only affects E320's and is not related at all to the KVB - the introduction of KVB revealed a problem caused by the separation of 750v dc and 25Kv ac which causes a short circuit to earth through an electronics card on the E320's.

I think 3001/3002 must be taking longer to process than the few sets that went to Kingsbury before it, as the next scrap move isn't for another three weeks and 3001/3002 have already been in Kingsbury for more than a month!

could also be down to GBRF loco availability as well? might also be down to when a path for the move can become available as well?

3205/3206 nearly complete, 3209/3210 undergoing refurbishment while 3007/3008, 3015/3016, 3211/3212, 3219/3220, 3221/3222, 3229/3230 and spare powercar 3999 have all been done.

3007/008 is indeed still going around with the original interior so will have to go back at some point to be completed.

as far as I know that is correct mate, as for 3101 coaches I believe they have been scrapped?? not sure when or where though? the coaches that were stored at Temple Mills and went to Kingsbury by road were reported to be from 3308/307???? must mean the coaches that were next to 3017/3018 were from 101/102??? (happy to be corrected)

Well that would be odd - 3223 is paired up with 3218 ( as seen this evening). Suggest that the photographer didnt check the rear power car as it went by!!!

The coaches from 3308 did go to Kingsbury, but 3307 (both coaches and power car) is stored in France and is paired with 3303. If two rakes of coaches went for scrap by road from Temple Mills then the other rake will most likely have been the coaches from 3101. The coaches from 3102 were the ones with 3017/3018 in Valenciennes.

I think I spotted something similar on 3222 recently.

can only guess that 3101s coaches are stored or have been scrapped somewhere then? only 1 rake of coaches have been taken by road to Kingsbury for scrapping from Temple Mills (as far as I know), don't think any of 3101s coaches have become part of a refurbished set??? think refurbished set 3211/3212 have coaches from 3203/3204??

From this list, there seems to be 4 'sub-classes' if the numbering signifies sub- classes, i.e. 30xx, 31xx, 32xx, and 33xx. What are these differences?

Also, what is 3999?

30xx, 31xx and 32xx are all the same, the only differences being that when first built the 30xx sets were BR owned, the 31xx sets were SNCB owned, and the 32xx sets were (and some still are) SNCF owned.

The 33xx sets are the shortened sets built for the North of London Eurostar services that never materialised, and were subsequently used by GNER and SNCF before being stored in France.

3999 is the spare power car.

Nice to see 3205/3206 almost done.

I imagine 3209/3210 will lose its 'The Da Vinci Code' nameplate once refurbished, right? As far as I know it was the only 373 unit that wore full advertising livery.

I imagine that it will indeed loose its namplates

dont think it was the only set to carry a advertising or special livery though? think 3005/006 carried a special livery for "The Beatles"? and another set was also given a speical disney livery when Eurostar launched services to Disneyland Paris?. (happy to be corrected)

The information on Wikipedia regarding the North of London sets is incorrect. Wikipedia lists 3309, 3310, 3313 and 3314 as being scrapped in 2014, however satellite imagery taken as recently as last autumn shows that these sets, along with the other NOL sets (excluding 3304 and 3308), are in fact still stored in Ambérieu, and have not been scrapped. This means that the coaches from 3308 are all that's been scrapped from the North of London fleet, the rest of the North of London fleet still survives.

At the 3015 end or the 3016 end?
Reported elsewhere that power car 3739990 has replaced 3730160 in set 3016. So set 3015 is in its booked formation, and it is 3016 that is mis-formed.

I think something must be wrong with 3016's power car, as until recently 3230's power car was paired 3016's coaches, and 3999 was paired with 3230's coaches. I assume that 3230 has now returned to is correct formation as a result of this latest power car swap?
