Is that unlike its date with on oxyacetylene torch, which I guess will be considered "very warm storage"?
They'll be missed by the rail operations people who must be getting fed up now with the high failure rates for the German trains.

There was a rumour that Vivarail were looking at them (no, really).
To stack up next to all the D78s that no one has any interest in? maybe they should branch out into just a scrapping business.
Due to delays with the Ordsall Chord, many class 373 passenger cars will be used to form a covered walking route between Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria via the Metrolink network. Single line working will be in use on the remaining tram line...

I thought all trains had to run beyond life expired these days to extract their maximum value and avoid having to buy new rolling stock so soon. Either that or they all get refurbished. Preferably with new seats that are harder and less comfortable. Or am I just being too cynical here? It's quoted that they have a very hard paper round so to speak and are pretty much at the point of being life expired in TGV terms - some being retained through heavy refurbishment though.
I know the engines are probably knackered, but it's a shame they're not used on GEML or something similar.
Gauging issues I suppose.
Just a shame to see newer trains being scrapped when we have much older stock still running around. I'd prefer a Eurostar to a Pendolino any day!

They were built between 1992 and 1995, so 22/23 years old on average. How old are these ?
Class 994 units (aka T&W Metro stock) are articulated within each unit and are operating on NR tracks every day.Yep - don't think there's been any other articulated units operating on the British network in recent history.
Might be of interest, but Eurostar today confirmed they are "recycling" their 373s... Which is odd when they also just got delivery of a refurbished 373 power car
What exactly did they mean by "recycling"?.
What exactly did they mean by "recycling"? Only some of the TMST's are being refurbed for rebranding as e300s.
seems a waste of money to scrap them went to Paris a few weeks ago they seemed OK and went well. I know they have the shiny new ones but I thought they for extended routes
I thought that all Eurostars getting scrapped got scrapped in a tunnel in France
We haven't bricked up the Chunnel already have we?I thought that all Eurostars getting scrapped got scrapped in a tunnel in France
Today's Railways Europe issue 249 carries a list of which 373s are expected to stay with Eurostar, and also quotes a few withdrawn ones.
Which EMR site is that. Didn't know they scrapped trains.
