I was on the 17:20 from WGC this evening (16:53 from Kings Cross). the auto-announcements always omit Ashwell and Morden when announcing the calling stations, though it appears on the scrolling displays and the trains does stop there.

Could be the driver putting the wrong code in (may not know the code is incorrect either folks) or error in the databse. Meant it to the Twitter team so it can be checked.

Shows how little attention I pay to the auto-announcements but will listen out on the 1722 see if it mentions it. Still more amusing that it waffles on about East Coast, Cross country first great western and grand central when telling you which coaches you should be in.

The 17:22 I think is fast from Letchworth to Royston?
on the 16:53 yesterday it was listed on the scrolling text display but not announced.

I wonder if this is a new way to increase capacity by having multiple operators running at once. One train, one path!

No, been on a few times now and whilst the scrolling message says "Ashwell & Morden", the voice omits it, as if the sound file were missing.

The drivers seem to be instructed to make an additional manual announcement to correct it "By the way, we'll also be calling at Ashwell & Morden"

Similar to how they "Welcome you aboard this .................. service to". Can it really be that difficult to make them say Great Northern?! Then again, seeing as how we still can't get First Class stickers in the right place I'm not surprised..

What should have been the final booked GN working by class 321s ahead of the new timetable (at least according to a few posts further up), today's 2V90 1758 King's Cross - Welwyn Garden City appears to have been cancelled. GN's email says this is because no driver is available...

Does anyone know the new 387 diagrams after the timetable change? Are there going to be any Kings Lynn services?

I don't think that any will hit Kings Lynn until May. But will be interesting to see any changes to the current workings next week.

The 16:53 kx to cambridge was a 321 this evening. I boarded at wgc - nice to have plenty of seats again ! We crossed the flat junction at Hitchin - not done that for some time on a service calling at Hitchin.

I see the 17:23 from kx to Royston was cancelled.

For those of you old enough to remember- sounds like a bullseye moment. "Look at what you could have won - next week the 387 is back"

Is this still Monday - Friday only? I would guess one will not be found out or about tomorrow?

There were some 387s running on Saturday a couple of weeks ago - I saw a 4 coach unit calling at Meldreth on the stopper to Cambridge whilst I was going the other way on the semi-fast.

They're out at weekends now although I don't have any specific workings that they can be found on unfortunately. May be less tomorrow as a fair few were swapped for 321s this evening.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
All 387 workings were replaced by 321s today due to a lack of 387 trained drivers being available.

What % of drivers are passed now for 387s?

As for Saturday's a few are causing mayhem including the diagram with 1235 Kings Cross - Peterborough.

Also had on on the 0953 WGC (ex Cambridge) 2 weeks ago. Much to the disgust of Hatfield and potters bar passengers who were forced onto the follow slow train

There will be some 321 workings tomorrow. However beyond peak tomorrow it's unlikely any will be used.

Noticed what looked like a FCC/GN liveried 321 in Ilford CS this afternoon. There was a move from Hornsey to Clacton on RTT for this afternoon but it is shown cancelled, could the two be connected I wonder?

Two sets of 8/321's ran in service today, 404 and 406 which went back to Hornsey this morning after covering for 387's due to a lack of crew knowledge, the afternoon diagrams were formed of 8/387 which for the first time are booked to berth at Cambridge Carriage Sidings for tomorrow morning.

407 and 408 have worked all day vice 365's and will finish at Peterborough Nene tonight plus 420 and one other 321 are also on the Nene. Both pairs are likely to be working vice 387's tomorrow and likely to be diagrammed back to Hornsey in the morning.

At the moment, they may last until the end of this week but will only be used if crew knowledge dictates them replacing 387's or to cover to for 365's but their use will be very limited.

12/321 did indeed depart Hornsey EMUD bound for Clacton depot but evidently did not get further than Ilford.

As for the use of 387's to Kings Lynn, at the moment they will only run as far as north as Cambridge and their use on diagrams other than booked trains will be extremely limited due to crewing issues. You are more likely to get a 317 to Kings Lynn than a 387 for the foreseeable future and that will be extremely unlikely.

I presume this means 1P47/2R41 is a likely candidate for 2x321? I hope so, as I was thinking about travelling up on 2R41 but would prefer to avoid the 387s so 2x321 would be nice.

I'd also be grateful if anyone could confirm whether 1P47 is going to be 2x387 or 2x321 today...

Substitutions apart. Are the diagrams unchanged from last week or have some new ones appeared with the timetable change today?

Sadly not! 2C93, a solid 2 x 317 for all 10 years of my commuting from Welwyn Garden City is 387119 and 387110 this morning, presumably with SDO at the villages, as this is the 0727 Cambridge - King's Cross. No more seats for us! Rancid, rancid, rancid!

That was one I was hoping to be one of the last ones to convert as it used to be my preferred train as well.

As long as I can still physically fit on board....

That is progress. Lucky gets a seat. Now lucky gets you aboard. Be interesting we the 0655 changes how many don't get onboard at WGC. It is already cosy.

Was 2C29 06:27 Cambridge to Kings Cross (07L04 at Letchworth) still 2x 317 or or was this also a 387 this morning?
This was on the screens as running 30 min late at Letchworth - announced that the delay was due to a train fault.
I caught the 07:20 - very cosy 3 coach 313 (other unit had a door fault so only 3 coaches today) as passengers waiting for the 07:04 caught the 07:20 instead - not much room inside until a lot got off at Hatfield.
