Perhaps there were so many complaints about the seats it was decided to go back to the 319s...
With the exception of 12 cars vs 8 cars, maybe the 319s can take more passengers in crush-loading conditions than Electrostars.

Have seen a few complaints this morning that "Old style Thameslink trains" have been turning up on the BML today where 387's had been pretty consistent. Does that mean that a lot of 387's and 377's are trapped north of the flood or just a revision in diagramming surprising people?

No choice. Most trapped north of Farringdon. Its a case of every single train in service to run and provide at least a service.
On the BML there were 5x 387 diagrams. However not enough 387s so one 8 car 319 filed in for them I believe. I ended up going home on the 8 car 387.

I didn't see any 387s or 377s in service north of St Pancras yesterday.
One of the complaints I heard a number of passengers make was that the trains were only eight cars. The 0741 from Flitwick to St Pancras was formed of 2x319 yesterday, when the usual service at that time is normally 3x377/5. This meant that the same number of passengers turned up as usual and the train left Flitwick full & standing.
Mrs Box Photter was on that train and her comments regarding Thameslink's response to the Great Flood were less than complimentary. (She's also a long-suffering commuter).
Why no 12 car trains? Was it because Thameslink was only using the slow lines for all services yesterday?
All,
Looks like 387111 has been involved in a flooding incident in the Farringdon area.

Drove 117 today and still smelt like a new car.
I was on 117 earlier at lunchtime, sounded a bit dodgy under the pan.

surprisingly the 377/6s still smell new in the cab.
Haven't been on a 387 yet, but I know 379s are very loud when they go under neutral sections, certainly compared to other EMUs, could be common to the Electrostar bodyshell?
387115 was in service today. 387116 should be in service tomorrow.
At the 50% mark yet.
It's funny that Southern/Thameslink have nearly managed to introduce 2 new fleets in the time it has taken SWT to convert about a third of its 458's. Obviously there have been problems with corrosion etc, but it is an interesting comparison.

Just the newer type VCB is very clunky, much worse on 350's
Is 387113 still working with 387112? Finally caught my first sighting of them today at Farringdon but while I saw 113 on the front, a 377/5 arriving in the platform hid the rear unit from view!I could still see the top half of the unit though, so I'm counting it as a legitimate sight if I can confirm what the unit number was
Also shame on you techniquest for not getting the 'comfy chair' reference![]()
Any update on 113/112 from Tuesday? Sorry to persist but I don't know when I'll next get the opportunity to see it again![]()
What is a VCB?
