I think you answered this before but slipped my mind - when does mean the first one should be in service? Was in November you said?

Well first two are due on test in October so I'd expect one pair to at least be in service at some point in November.

Normal journey home last night - 1708 off BFRS - passenger leans across to me - and said "do you travel often on this line ?" - of course I said , every day.

What a wonderful new train he says - love the tables , power points and reading lights.

So there - a random passenger who likes them (as indeed I do) - I told him it was UK built , an Electrostar family set and a few other details. Ne trains can impress random passengers.

I was just about to post the same

I assure you it was in my mind - he got on at BFRS and off at SPX - not looking forward to the 700's as planned and designed personally - but by then I will be an off peak passenger only ....

Well will some or all 387's go to FGW while some 319's remain on Thameslink?

The 7/2s are for gatwick express isn't

Yes, 27 4-car units to replace (if not all, most of) Class 442.

This is from the option for 140 additional carriages with a further 8 units brand-new for GW to finish the order.

No reason why not.

It has never actually been necessary for any of the 319, 377/2, 377/5 or 387/1 cascades away from T/L to happen in any specific order, or even one class at a time. Much depends on where and when the 319s are next needed - and we don't really know that yet.

I'm fairly sure Class377/5 has covered this before...

The current plan is the 700s arrival will displace some 387s then the 319s and then the 377s I believe. But it's not quite as simple as this class goes then this class. Its far more complex than that.

The cascade plan had changed as far as I know from last year and may change again.

Why are they all cancelled?

Because you need a train to run them. They aren't planned to start until xth August but as they are long term plan they are in the system from the summer timetable change and cancelled off as they aren't required so the pathing can be used for other trains rather than block out the line needlessly.

We still don't know where the rest of the 319s are going yet do we? Please remind me as to how many are gonna end up at northern and London Midland.
I still think the remainder could replace 455/8s and/or 313s on southern.

Supposed to be 20 for Northern at the moment obviously more units will be needed when Blackpool is complete, you would think more 319's would be likely but presumably will be dependent on what the winning Northern bidder proposes.

20 to Northern, originally 14 units specified but 6 were added to allow a Class 156 loan to TPE. More are likely to be transferred as has been said.
7 to London Midland, a like-for-like replacement for 7 Class 321s to ScotRail.

Any new thameslink diagrams?

Can we expect the last 319 to Brighton/Three Bridges soon with 319s only being used on kent and wimbledon loop services or are there not quite enough 387s to make this happen?

Doubt it 455s have just been refurbished

Could Great Northern take them to give an early retirement to their 313s

No on the Moorgate line the platforms are only 6 car.
Also stations on average only 2 miles apart so need good acceleration
I do not now but at slow speeds a 313 could out accelerate a 319 ?

PTSO or platform depending on the weather

Would be nice for 319.001 - 013 to return to Southern for use on Coastway, sorry I know I keep saying this...OT for this thread

Have the 313s not been refurbished to a higher standard?

Compared to the 319s, they are missing a coach that is badly needed on some West Coastway trains, and also missing some toilets for the weak-bladdered pensioners of Sussex.
