Last night's trip to Waterloo saw 2402 & 2414 involved in further testing, including using the disabled ramp to test passengers boarding using a wheelchair.
Was it definitely 442402? Though that one was still at Eastleigh being retractioned?

If the ramps were being deployed it's likely to be another PTI test run.

Basically the obstacle detection equipment on the units haven't been properly calibrated and needs doing. No idea how long that will take.

It’s an issue that stems from when Gat Ex lashed them up for working DOO, and was present the entire time they were in service for Gat Ex. It’s almost certainly a good thing that SWR discovered the issue now! The NIR explains fully

Is this the link you were referring to?

https://www.southwesternrailway.com...mporary-delay-to-class-442-fleet-introduction

I can’t see any mention of which services will suffer. Can anyone shed any light please on the suspected casualties?

That's the link. Thought they were in there. Some stuff on twitter.

Essentially the 0628 SOA to WAT and 1848 WAT to POO new services won't be introduced until 442 ready.

Some short formations also (5 per day I think)

I've DM yiuntoo

There's a Reading diagram which will run as 5 vice 8. Diagram starts with the 0650 Waterloo to Reading and includes the 1720 Waterloo to Reading.
A few peak stopping services via Weybridge will be 8 vice 12; 0747 Woking to Waterloo, 1702 Waterloo to Guildford and 1902 Waterloo to Farnham.

Is that something that was fitted for DOO or has it always been present?

It’s not like the 1720 Reading is busy is it?

Another shambles from WorstGroup to add to the ever-growing list since they took over.

1720 Reading will be skipping Clapham Junction as a result. At least there is now a 1705 Reading.

And the 707/5 on the 19:35 which was taken out in the new timetable... comes back!

Edit for clarity: the 19:35 was swapped to 450/8 in the new timetable, only to immediately go back (partly due to the lack of 442s).

Apologies, this is the 442 thread. I digress.

Something that was unintentionally created when they were converted to DOO by Gat Ex that has been present ever since and only just discovered as being potentially dangerous

What’s the difference to the short forms we had to put up with when the 458/5s were very late and weren’t ready for the intended timetable?

New franchise same problems as the previous one and I’m sure will in the future affect the next one....

Yes, that was a shambles, especially with the ridiculous random skip-stopping that resulted. One day we skipped Longcross. Like that's going to make a difference to overcrowding!

Can you give any more detail on this? as someone who used to occasionally work on/under them I'm curious!
