Oops

14:37 London Waterloo to London Waterloo due 16:02

This train has been delayed from London Waterloo and is now 13 minutes late.
This train will no longer call at Vauxhall (outward at 14:41), Queenstown Rd.Battersea (outward at 14:44), Clapham Junction (outward at 14:47), Wandsworth Town (outward at 14:50) and Putney (outward at 14:53).
Will be formed of 5 coaches instead of 10.
This is due to a train fault.
Thought it was usually a 5? Time recovered to within the 3 mins required for a RT departure from Hounslow :) http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W94209/2015/05/12/advanced

14:45 London Waterloo to London Waterloo due 16:11

This train has been delayed at Richmond and is now 16 minutes late.
This train will no longer call at Isleworth, Syon Lane, Brentford, Kew Bridge, Chiswick, Barnes Bridge, Barnes (on return at 15:49), Putney (on return at 15:52), Wandsworth Town (on return at 15:55), Clapham Junction (on return at 15:58), Queenstown Rd.Battersea (on return at 16:01) and Vauxhall (on return at 16:05).
This is due to a train fault.
Time recovered a bit too well! 20 late by Whitton, 15 late leaving Hounslow, but RT pass at Clapham Junction to get held outside Waterloo 5 minutes early! :o http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/W93692/2015/05/12/advanced

Looks like I'll go for a 450 working this evening :D was in a 455 mood but I won't manage the 1707 out of Waterloo.

Booked a long turn on Thursday but it has an alteration. Not sure if the 458s will be on the Reading or the 450s will be on the Hounslow rounders.

Could be 450s on Reading and 459s on Hounslows.

There does seem to have been more 450's on the Reading route lately.

This question has probably been asked before (and sorry for going off topic) but why do the Waterloo-Windsor trains run semi-fast, but Waterloo-Weybridge (via Hounslow) trains, that have a longer journey, stop at all stations? Surely it should be the trains with a shorter journey that run round Hounslow? If the longer journey time is due to the Hounslow loop, then what made the rail company decide to run the Weybridge trains stopping and Windsor ones fast?

1. Windsor is a more important destination in its own right and therefore has the faster through trains.

2. Chertsey and Addlestone (and Weybridge) have a shorter journey time to London via the main line - effectively the Weybridge via Hounslow service is a series of local links put together.

3. When the Reading via Hounslow semi fast was first diverted to Hounslow in 2003 it continued to run semi-fast - Vauxhall, Putney, Brentford, Hounslow, Feltham and all stations to Weybridge but in the December 2004 timetable it was decided to provide the Hounslow loop with a 4tph stopping service. There isn't a path for 6tph with one being semi-fast. Even if there was my opinion is that Windsor would be the appropriate destination.

The London - Weybridge service isn't intended to be used as an end-to-end service so they're not really comparable

We cannot be far off now in converting all 458/0's to be 458/5's as there seems to be a lot more class 450's doing the Waterloo - Reading route recently.

The list provided by WWTownEnth a few days ago shows that is not the case, there are still 13 x 458/0s in service, out of an original 30 strong fleet.

So only a couple of units past the half way mark...

458015 is in Wimbledon I am told.Shunter told me.Not actually sure if it is there though. He said it's additional coach isn't ready, not that that makes a lot of difference at the moment. It needs a C4 overhaul but we aren't sure how many miles it has done for this due overhaul.100,000?

Had a desiro 8 car down to Reading although it was booked 458 on the diagram.Noticed at least two other sets and three sets of 458's.(I think)

The 450's were good as gold though.:p

@Juniper Driver; from a driver's point of view, for the route(s) that you sign if you had the choice to only driver 458s/459s or 450s what would you go for?

Probably desiro as they are more reliable.

450
458
455.

That's just Reading though. On other routes 455's are fine.Toilets come in handy as well.Early days though and I've found 450's perfectly fine for the Reading road.

Due to their reliability and more comfortable ride is why I would prefer for the class 450's to remain on the Reading Route.

But the end game (once the Desiro City fleet is built and introduced) is the 458/5s will be for Reading with the 707s on the Windsor-side suburbans, allowing all the 450s and 455s to go back to the SWML for capacity enhancement (with the 455/456 fleet potentially eventually replaced by the stock for Crossrail 2)

458015 is on 10 road @ Wimbledon. As my shunter friend told me,it is there.(hiding).458022 is near the barrier wagons.458524 is in the shed with 533 today.Saw 456007 in green in the shed and 456019 in the cleaning shed.(In red)

Im probably more experienced (and comfortable) on desiro's even though they can be funny old trains sometimes.( i have driven them on virtually every SWT route I know, can't say that about 458's)I really didn't get on 458's enough down the Reading road as I was doing other work.I also prefer the cab layout.

Oh yeah, the mauve light in the window (SM side) of 458022.I've forgotten what that means.

Im sure something is isolated but as I learn't these units over 8 years ago I've forgotten what it is.

Any idea which pair will be going on the tour on Saturday?

(Was hoping for 022 but appears that will soon be on the move if it's hiding near the barrier wagons).

Thanks for sharing the photos. As an aside, what are the carriages to the right of the train in the final photo?

It appears that it was entered as a passenger service (as opposed to unadvertised), and actually available to book Advance tickets for on various MixingDeck sites! :o It was first discovered at least 3 weeks ago and reported to SWT and NRE more than once, but was only removed just after 2130 today (after SWT were reminded again). It is believed to have been showing since 17 March! :D

Screenshot here from 11 May of Advance tickets being available to buy using the TPE app. (Screenshot itself is from Facebook).

Oops, I wonder if anybody purchased that ticket thinking it will be a regular passenger service
