Can anyone confirm the status of 707007, 010 and 022 please. I'm due to be in London tomorrow for couple of hours and hope to nab a ride on these units.
Thanks in advance
707022 is still with SWR and is currently working the 2011 Shepperton to Waterloo service along with 707024, so you'll probably see it tomorrow.

707007 and 707010 aren't showing, so either they've already transferred to Southeastern or they've not been in use today (if still with SWR).

707007 and 707010 both definitely no longer with SWR. They were transferred to SE as early as August or even July

If I were to guess 707022 will enter service tomorrow as 2H12 06:40 Shepperton to Waterloo service and then form 2H11 07:42 Waterloo to Shepperton service. And then every 2 hours from then.

707007 transferred in April, a search of this forum reveals…

Go to the TOPS request thread for SE, and RTT for SW, and you’ll find them quickly

707022 is working 05:12 Waterloo to Shepperton, which forms 06:10 Shepperton to Waterloo then every 2 hours from then. So 07:12 Waterloo to Shepperton, 08:11 Shepperton to Waterloo etc...

If you send #CityBeam to the SE WhatsApp service - 07866002690 it'll detail which trains will run

I've worked on 707014/707015/707018/707019/707020/707021 and 707023 in four trips recently.
(707014+707020)
Then (707015+707020) Today.
Saw 707014 in Wim Yard today.
Oh, yeah I mean't to ask…How many 707's have SWR got left?
Is it ten?
I have heard we are going to keep ten but not so sure how true this is.

SWR have 12 at the moment, 707014-024 & 707030. There looks to be diagrams for 5 pairs at the moment (10 units)

From constant monitoring on RTT, these all work peak Shepperton services in the morning, and then two venture to Weybridge after around midday while the others stay on Sheppertons alongside 455s. I wonder if anymore will leave soon, or if the next time they go over to SE it will be all of them together. 5 pairs is probably too much of a microfleet.

Does anyone have an up to date list of the ones in the CityBeam livery? In particular I'm wondering if 707005, 707006, 707002 and 707013 are already in it.

Jan 2022 MR is reporting that SWR are wanting to keep these 12 beyond their planned transfer to SE in Q1/22 due to ongoing issues with getting 701's into use.

Hardly surprising and you would have thought that letting any of them go without a clear way forward with the 701's wasn't perhaps the smartest move.

I presume the DfT instructed SWR to release them, but will hopefully now realise the chaos that will ensue if any more are released.

"wanting" isn't the same as actually keeping them. I think the DfT should step in to arbitrate the final decision as SE are just as screwed for stock as SWR and with Networkers going, it has diminished their fleet further.

Given DfT are in control they can dictate what they want and lets be honest they've already had the media kudos for launching the City Beams in SE so they won't be too perturbed if there is a few months delay. Guess the issue is whether SE are also allowing 465/466's to run out of miles as well with no booked slots for overhauls.

Why are SE screwed for rolling stock? The stored Networkers are still on lease.

SE have had capacity issues for years and have been crying out for new stock. Even the 707s are nothing more than a stop gap. The Networkers are still on lease but they are also falling to bits and lacking replacement parts. With the 466s not having the PRM mods done is also adds an additional constraint on fleet flexibility. SE are also taking over the Maidstone East service from GTR so its another burden.

COVID has obviously changed the game quite a bit so its anybodys guess as the the future of the franchise. What SE need to do is start the process for a new fleet and be ready in 5yrs rather than sit COVID out for the next year and kick the fleet further down the line.

The mythical 376 cascade will again, add another complication for SE. (if it ever happens)

There will be no new stock for SE for a time yet but given its suggested that SE will be the pilot National Rail Concession so maybe new stock will be incorporated into that. Although its still not clear who will be responsible for rolling stock improvement ie GBR or the Concessionaire.
