The way UDS works is that you release from the first cab in the unit behind the one you want to release. Thus I'm confused as to why there'd be any issue with UDS 12 to 4 other than the risk of passengers missing their stop and so pulling handles or abusing staff (or both).
Just noticed this discussion of UDS, and can confirm that before the SWT fleet was modified to ASDO that UDS 4 from 12 was fairly common. Waterloo to Portsmouth via Eastleigh had a number of stations where only the first unit of the three was opened.

This led to the odd situation of down 12 car trains at Fareham only opening the front unit, even though it was normally considered an 8 car platform, because the cab door of coach 9 was above the platform ramp. This was eventually lengthened slightly.

So it would seem the issue is probably one of company policy, not a limitation of the on train equipment.

Which is what has been discussed.
When the 350 were launched, only 12->8 and 8->4 were signed off for public use by the company's Ops Standards department.

Siemens have since conformed that 12->4 is physically fine to operate.

The train crew have resisted this due to the clunky way it operates, and also the ongoing issue with overcarried passengers or delays down to waiting for passengers to move to the correct part of the train at UDS stations as is. That and some stations that do fit 12, have less than ideal viability or narrow platforms.

730 206 is currently at Crewe, platform 2. Can confirm has 2+2 seating throughout. Couldn't get photos unfortunately

Drivers at Crewe have been told this week to expect to work 730s on the Wolves-Walsall route from January, no exact date given as you'd expect.

Hopefully a resolution is found for this alarm reset issue soon, really shouldn't be an issue.

Class 730 units passenger introduction on Monday 13th November on LNW
That seems promising, it's taken a while (almost six years!) but I'm really looking forward to seeing these enter service. The 319s have served a purpose but they're a bit decrepit now, and it'll be nice to try out something fresh. From what I've seen, these look to be everything the 700s should've been all along, bar length. It's just a shame the /2s will be later on, since I think they have real potential to be the nicest Aventra's.

I believe training has started at New Street now?
I'm not 100% sure, but given Crewe started training a while ago and are passing out drivers regularly you'd like to think New St are in a similar position

So not long until Cross City operations commence then, hopefully.

Can confirm the green LNR 5car sets have arm rests, 2+2 seating, a green wall trim and a reasonable seat width. Not sure if this differs with the orange WMR 3car sets.

Mildly reminiscent of a 350/1 interior albeit lots of (nice) fake walnut around the bulkhead/cab door ends.
