The other pair had traction issues (according to RTT) earlier on in the day on the four oaks - redditch runs, 12:02 dep off Redditch started late at Barnt green. I watched them out of Longbridge
Brake problems at Duddeston we started off 10 yards bump we were there 15 minutes every thing seemed OK ok after l went ro Four Oaks and back to Brum did stand at platform 12 for about 10 minutes

Yep.
I merged the WMT and old 319 allocations page.
Also I've got to finished editing the diagram numbers but they are readable

There still seems to be a reluctance for people to spread out into the aisles - the train I'm currently on is reasonably loader, but everyone is still crowded into the area around the doors. The aisle is basically empty. Perhaps people haven't got used to them, compared with the class 323s?

Anyone know what the diagrams for 730s on the Cross City and Walsall Wolverhampton may be tomorrow please? Many thanks.

Both diagrams this week have been listed as VAR schedules on Real Time Trains, so I would guess the same will apply at the weekend. However, this is slightly disrupted by the fact that Bromsgrove trains are terminating at Longbridge tomorrow, so are all VAR...

This I suspect is a class 730

37608 was in New Street station on Wednesday at around 12.30 dragging 730206 out the south end. Leaving a very nostalgic fog in the process.

Thank you. I will try my luck and do some tracing on my way into the city, as well as playing it by eye and see what appears!

This is a pair of class 730s (just seen them!), not sure if it matches with the possible diagram I meant last night

Update: this is the other pair (which I can confirm is 008 and 020)

Was on the cross city line yesterday,18-5-2024, and 730008 and 730020 were on the Lichfield TV- Longbridge service, with 730009-730011 on Redditch to Four Oaks.

Took a stroll down to the test track today (I live in Melton Mowbray so not far away) and there were a few 730s around the Melton RIDC site. Think the rear 5 car unit in the 2nd photo was 730201, didn't get any other numbers.

The units on the second photo had been out on the test track today, the electrified line bearing right is to the test track. the line bearing left heads back to Melton Junction and the main line.

I had forgotten this thread was still around. I was working in the West Midlands on Tuesday 21st May. While I was on a train from Bristol Parkway to Birmingham New Street, just before we got to Kings Norton, where we waited for the route from Kings Norton towards Lifford East Junction (I was on train 1M45 for Manchester Picc - the Manchester workings mostly, if not always, go via. Camp Hill, St. Andrews Junction & Lifford East Junction) we were, I am fairly sure, passed by a train from Lichfield TV to Bromsgrove. I didn't note the route number but am told, on another thread, that it was 730009 & 730018 making up the second Lichfield - Bromsgrove diagram for the day. Also noted:

- One working for Redditch: set numbers not noted but likely to have been 2R33 (1316 Four Oaks - Redditch).
- 730020 leading 730008 on 2P37 (1403 Bromsgrove - Lichfield Trent Valley) which I saw arrive at Birmingham NS having seen it earlier at Bromsgrove.

After arriving at Birmingham New Street I had to get an onward connection and this gave me the chance to sample one of these Class 730s when 730016 showed up for the 1441 Birmingham NS to Dudley Port (working 2W34, 1407 Walsall - Wolverhampton). While I was onboard it seemed to me that the train was easier to move around in and the acceleration was good. I enjoyed the ride more than the rides I have had on the 323s and it still had that new smell too. I was impressed.

The roll out of the 730s appears to be going well with few reported problems. This is in stark contrast to some of the other new units.
With the new timetable fast approaching are there likely to be further diagrams introduced? If so where?

I agree they seem to be quite reliable so far. As far as I know priority is for further diagrams for Cross City as 323s are needed for Northern. 2 323s in preparation for Northern went to Wolverton the other day hence why a 3rd Cross City diagram now.
