Another slipped date.That hasn’t happened.

Another slipped date.
And that should have been completed in January……..Indeed. 10 car testing is meant to start “soon”, albeit not sure if an actual date is known to anybody just yet.
May 2025? May 2026? Assume May 2024 is a typo?!!I've been told internally that they're hoping for the 810s to begin passenger service within the May 2024 timetable
11 months too late....I've been told internally that they're hoping for the 810s to begin passenger service within the May 2024 timetable
April fools day was last weekI've been told internally that they're hoping for the 810s to begin passenger service within the May 2024 timetable
EMR have no Rest Day Working agreement with ASLEF from Saturday 29th March. Not sure how this will affect any training.
May 2025? May 2026? Assume May 2024 is a typo?!!
I doubt anything like that will happen. Is it too early for heads to roll at hitachi GB.This embarrassment can not continue.
2025 I meant!! Duly amendedMay 2025? May 2026? Assume May 2024 is a typo?!!
That's highly unlikely given that driver training has not yet started, nor platform staff and onboard crew training.2025 I meant!! Duly amended![]()
Not a chance for that date.2025 I meant!! Duly amended![]()
We've all been told many dates for many things over the years - one thing you learn from experience is to believe you're on a training course once you're sat in the class room, and to believe the train is entering traffic when you see it with real passengers onI've been told internally that they're hoping for the 810s to begin passenger service within the May20242025 timetable
Haha. That is very true, but how can this be linked to the 90 class 701s, of which only five seem to have been able to carry pax since about last October !!We've all been told many dates for many things over the years - one thing you learn from experience is to believe you're on a training course once you're sat in the class room, and to believe the train is entering traffic when you see it with real passengers on![]()
Absolutely, I agree. With how optimistic they've been up to now I knew their aspiration to have the first one in service this year is nigh on impossibleWe've all been told many dates for many things over the years - one thing you learn from experience is to believe you're on a training course once you're sat in the class room, and to believe the train is entering traffic when you see it with real passengers on![]()

At this rate, I actually couldn’t commit 100% to any of those answers! Even several weeks ago, I’d have said 810s without hesitation; however, whilst that is probably the most likely one, I wouldn’t stake money on it.Which will be first:-
HS2 operational
All 701s in service
First 810 into passenger use
I think this has been resolved, drivers will open, TM’s will close and drivers monitor screens whilst departing. 7 cars should be the first to leave. However Lumo / First will be running 222’s from Euston to Stirling.I've heard that there is a dispute that they want drivers to open and shut doors on them and that the 7 car 222s are heading to Scotland in September for driver training which leads to a potential lack of trains

There will certainly be screens - not sure there will be any expectation for drivers to monitor them. In fact I could see that being resisted as it might confer some liability on the driver if something goes wrong, and there’s no operational benefit, so it’s a little hard to see why the company would push for it.
More recently, full Driver open/Guard close was in effect on the 180s for the short time we had them. I'm led to believe the the SDO selection will be automatic, presumably with the associated "as long as", and "unless's", so not sure if that would affect the current agreement?Driver open guard close is already agreed - dating back to the when the 170s plied the route - and is in effect what happens on the 222s where, when in passenger service, drivers select the number of doors to open and authorise the TM to rerelease.
will they ever consider just extending the platform a few meters?SDO will know where the train is and what platform - just up to the driver to confirm it’s correct before releasing. Also, it does NOT take in to account a stop short so there’s still the risk of opening doors that aren’t platformed. It’s smart in other ways though, for example Long Eaton will be 4.5 not 4 as it’s able to select door sets instead of full coaches.
Also, I don’t believe that Serco has any involvement in RIDC Melton (Old Dalby as was).
I believe it's now GBRf run?
It is owned by Sereco and Alstom
Owned & managed by NR. Operated by GBRF. Serco owned the facility in the past.A google search indicates it is owned by Network Rail, with some kind of long-term contract with GBRf
Do you have any source for Serco being involved?

That was me! I think that’s died down now with the 170’s but I assure you, plans were being made…Glad to hear this. I've heard if the 222 7 cars do leave in September to head for other operators to start driver training that the same person who said about the 810 door dispute was saying double 170s going back on Nottingham to st pancras jobs. I didn't believe that
"SDO 4.5" signs! That would be something to see.SDO will know where the train is and what platform - just up to the driver to confirm it’s correct before releasing.
