Not necessarily as bad as it looks, 93 with ac drive will have more control. I know 66 has more adhesive weight so ultimately may be less prone to wheelslip causing a significant loss of speed.

Maybe.
How do class 88s get on over Shap and Beattock in October and November ? That is the best clue, because FWIU a 93 is an upgraded 88, with probably roughly the same adhesive weight and a very similar axle load. Both are AC tractioned, so although there is probably more electrical power to the traction motors, the contact between wheels and rails are the same.

Portbury dock are claiming it’s leaving at 8am tomorrow via rail, yet nothing on the system and it wouldn’t be able to leave under its own power anyway. I suspect some sort of crossed wires and it’s going out by road.

Not sure but 93001 spotted on low loder on M5 heading North past Cribbs Causeway

I overtook it on the M5 near Cheltenham earlier. Loads of people on various bridges out photographing it.

On way back from Devon this afternoon, passed it doing about 40mph on the M5 at Gloucester Services about 16.30ish. We nipped into the services for half hour to browse round the farm shop, but didn't manage to catch it up again.

Haven't they got that big new shed at LeLeicester
That's for the GBRf/Stadler contract.

It has never been mentioned by ROG its being based at Leicester. Their original testing plan had Crewe as a mainline testing base.

Whether that comes to fruition is anyone's guess however.

Besides which, doesn't ROG now use the Derby RTC as it's maintenance base - for classic traction at least ? I would have thought the Stadler shed at Leicester would make sense but
A) we don't know whether that is exclusively GBRf
B) we don't know whether the Stadler after care support is financially acceptable to ROG.
Some operations like o have their own maintenance staff and facilities.

If the loco has already been tested at Velim, what does the UK testing do, or is it more for signal interference and UK box ticking, than actually checking if it works.

Once first one is cleared, will it be more a case of subsequent ones can be put into service as delivered, bit like 66s straight off ship at Newport from USA

I suspect testing (interference, gauging etc.) might allow subsequent ones to be delivered by rail, though suspect they will be dragged by another loco before getting set up / commissioned somewhere else.
