With the other thread on the Easter strike going more into the for's and against's and reasons on the strike, I thought id start a thread for people who are just trying to find out what services will or will not run, hopefully this will help some people out there. (Mods, feel free to move or change if needs be)

East Midlands Trains have confirmed that they will run normal services between London St Pancras and Derby, Sheffield, Nottingham and Leicester, with a reduced service on other local services.

EMT are also offering full refunds to customers whose journey has been or gets cancelled.

Good news for me as I travel down to London from Nottingham on the 8th and return the following day.

Please post any other CONFIRMED services, after all they may well save some members a lot of stress during what will no doubt be a very hectic period.

EMT have not confirmed anything.

They said:
A normal daytime service is expected to run on trains between Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and London St Pancras International.

AFAIK some services will be running. It depends on what the picket lines are like.

Indeed, in the other thread it was inferred that because 54% voted for a strike, 54% will go on strike. That's of course not how it works. If 40% of voters vote Tory, they aren't the only people to be ruled by a Tory government.

It's not even an Easter strike, is it? As in, no part of the strike is during the Easter weekend.

We won't know until next week. for example, if the Bobbies go out en masse, i'd expect Trent and Derby PSBs to be covered, but a few of the smaller boxes closed.

I've got a friend who needs to get down to Taunton, around the time this strike is on....

Does anyone know if anything will be running at all, even replacement buses?

And if not, is it possible to refund tickets because of the strike?

Thanks... :)

What would be great is if Sandhills control staff (and possibly Hooton...) stood up for common sense and declared themselves on the side of the customer. As a small and nearly self-contained railway ME could then operate a near-normal service and show the rest of the country how it's done, just as they did in the snow.

Why would that be great? It would alienate any of the staff in grades that should be striking in that area. If they went in to work, against the majority vote, and subsequently needed some support at work off colleagues around the country, they would rightly get the finger. It has nothing to do with being on the side of the customer, apart from the safety concerns that this strike is partly about.

Just received an email from East Coast, they are planning to run some services and if your service is cancelled, you either get a refund or can travel on a service that is running. The revised timetable comes out on or after the 31st. Until then they are not doing refunds apparently.

C2c, EMT, Eurostar, NXEA and SWT have announved their plans, as seen on http://nationalrail.co.uk/dispute .

I expect only the more customer proactive companies remaining will make any announcements before Monday now. (So not Arriva Wales, imho)

I rang Virgin who said there will be "some services running" so it's not a complete shutdown. They didn't know anything more

Services on SWT are limited as follows:

RMT signallers' strike - travel advice for South West Trains customers
•South West Trains services to be severely disrupted during strikes
•Vastly reduced service to lead to extremely busy trains RMT
•Trains to operate between 0700 and 1900hrs - no services to run outside these times
South West Trains today (Friday 26 March) issued travel advice for customers following the announcement of industrial action by the RMT affecting signallers and maintenance workers employed by Network Rail.

South West Trains expects to operate a significantly reduced service during the strikes on 6, 7, 8 and 9 April and is advising passengers that services which are able to operate will be extremely busy.

The following revised timetable will be in operation between 0700 and 1900:

*Passengers should note that, to prevent serious overcrowding, London-bound trains to Waterloo will not stop at Clapham Junction or Wimbledon Station until after 1000hrs and outbound trains from Waterloo will not stop at Clapham Junction or Wimbledon Station after 1600hrs.

Full details of revised services will be made available as soon as possible on the South West Trains website at www.southwesttrains.co.uk.

Andy Pitt, Managing Director of South West Trains said: "We are very disappointed that our customers will be inconvenienced as a result of this industrial action. While the rail network will remain open, we will be operating a vastly reduced service and the trains that do run are expected to be extremely busy.

“As such, passengers will be severely impacted in their travel plans and are advised to check for the latest information prior to travelling, seek alternative means of travel where possible and to allow additional time for their journey."

As a result of the strike action, no services will operate on the following routes:

•Bournemouth – Weymouth
•Portsmouth – Southampton
•Portsmouth – Eastleigh
•Salisbury – Exeter
•Alton – Woking
•Ascot – Reading
•Ascot – Guildford
•Portsmouth – Guildford
•Salisbury – Southampton
Some rail replacement bus services will operate on the following routes:

Further details will be made available as soon as possible on our website www.southwesttrains.co.uk

Passengers are advised to check before travel for further updates using any of the following options:

What i dont get it why are South West Trains running trains from 7am when the Strike is from 6am till 10am and 6pm till 10pm but they seem to not be running before 6am or after 7pm but can between 7am and 10am when the Strike is on so why if they can run them then why cant they run them after 7pm? if they can run from 7am till 10am.

Presumably because a limited number of signallers and 'signallers'* will be available for work, the best course of action is to have them on a 12-hour shift covering the core of the day when most people will want to travel. If you tried to run a full day you wouldn't have enough people in the boxes.

* those who don't undertake signallers' duties day-to-day

So if services aren't running from St Albans, I'll have to drive up to Luton to get an EMT service? Quite a bit more expensive.
Other option's to drive to Watford and get the Metropolitan line from there, I persume the tubes are unaffected?

The tube will be OK from Watford. Some lines run on NR-signalled infrastructure and may be affected however.

As Eurostar is running (HS1 not maintained by Network Rail?) I would guess Southeastern will at least be running an Ashford/St Pancras shuttle. (Not confirmed though - just my speculation)

NR Signallers do control HS1 so it will be affected.

EMT look to be running as expected...Slightly reduced Mainline and Liverpool-Norwich services and Local trains around Nottm/Derby.

Where Stagecoach run bus services parralel to the train service passengers are being directed to them.

Such strike may impact on the Mersey Rail Elite in terms of access .. However, should the Elite decide to strike, we would ensure our Customers come first.... ;) :p

You haven't got the job yet. I wouldn't get too excited until you are rang on Monday and even if successful you've got a long way to go yet.
