The obvious answer is to crowdfund a new-build, like has been done for an A1, County, Saint, B17, Patriot, P2 and so on, but wired for 25kV.

Or perhaps, taking our cue from the Baby Deltic Recreators, buy an 87 back from Bulgaria and sprinkle it liberally with rivets?

'Frinstance, if it was taken to Holland's 1500v network to do some railtours?

I worry that things that go to the National Railway Museum end up sanitised, and bereft of living spirit, like castles "entrusted" to English Heritage.......
Well it would be nice but if the NRM have anything to do with it then it probably wont happen. The only things they do is Flying Scotsman and pointless exhibits for foreign tourist's who have never travelled on British built trains and cant open Mk3 doors. It would work if also 87001 could be brought back as it would be in better condition.
