I don't think Pakistan realize the World Cup has started. Bowled out for 105.
If you're a betting person, time to put some money on the team!! (cf various previous World Cups). Mind you, I wouldn't discount WI if Gayle and Russell get going, plus they seem to have their fast bowling mojo back, but then England have one who could have been theirs too.I don't think Pakistan realize the World Cup has started. Bowled out for 105.
Actually, it happens several times a year just in the English game! I like it when Smith A takes the wicket of Smith B and it's reciprocated when Smith A bats: this happened only last week in one of the championship matches, but I can't in honesty remember which or what surname it was! Speaking of Warwickshire, just before Yorkshire and ex-England bowler Ryan Sidebottom retired from the game I was looking at a Warwickshire scorecard and thought to myself ''oh, Ryan's been loaned to them, which is a bit surprising given the circumstances'' then my next thought was ''blimey, he's a better batsman than I realised with that score''. On turning to the Yorkshire scorecard, both matches played on the same day, Ryan Sidebottom was simultaneously appearing at Headingley while scoring runs at Edgbaston. It took a bit of internet searching to discover Warwicks had just signed up a New Zealander without a seventies mane of hair!Jeetan Patel's achievement in the recent Warwickshire v Surrey match: Ryan Patel lbw b Jeetan Patel 0 prompted me to idly speculate how many times a similar thing has happened before.
I'm sure that it's not unique and has happened with lots of different names, but I did find this story from the BBC, though, which puts a whole new spin on the question: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/funny_old_game/1447033.stm
Enjoy!
With the onset of early June, it is now the 25th anniversary of the match at Edgbaston between Warwickshire and Durham, when the Warwickshire score of 810-4 declared included the record score of 501 not out by Brian Lara, with 10 x 6 and 62 x 4.

it'll end in a boring draw
A poor performance yesterday from England especially in the field. That poor ground work cost them the game.
You're easily bored! Seeing footage of the last over of the game, in which Lara made the final runs to take him to 501, it was only Morris of the opposing side who really made a point of congratulating him. One of my biggest cricketing regrets is never getting to see Lara in action in person.Lara was dropped and bowled of a no ball early in his innings. John Morris made 204 for Durham in the same game.
it was a boring draw!
I see Australia have pulled off thier traditional batting collapse against Pakistan.
And somehow we won the game. From 277-4 to 307 all out in the space of six overs.
Good bowling return by Amir....10 - 2 - 30 - 5.
When I hear the people who are now responsible for bringing us top level cricket bemoaning the washed-out matches, and implying that the previous record of only two such matches in the 44 year history of the tournament led to a false sense of optimism, I start screaming at the radio or TV screen. The fact remains that in previous World Cups held in this country there were extra days allocated to help ensure matches were actually played, possibly even finished! In 1975 and 1979, in this country, two extra days were allowed for in each match, as they were in ALL limited over knockout matches i.e. Nat West and Benson & Hedges cups. It is utterly inexcusable that cricketers representing their countries, and their fans, especially spectators who've paid a fortune to be there, are treated so cavalierly just because the TV monopolists want to dictate what they show on any given day. It also probably guarantees that England (and Wales) will never again be chosen to host the event.Looks like the two unbeaten teams who are due to play each other today will remain unbeaten, due to our gorgeous unfailing summer weather *Sponsored by Chris Grayling*.
A washout would probably, on paper, suit NZ rather than India, but I reckon the conditions at Trent Bridge would make NZ slight favourites, especially if they could play Southee.
Perhaps we could have loaned them Jofra Archer to even things up a bitIt was embarrassing listening to how the West Indies bowling attack were faring against the top order England batsmen yesterday. I had the radio on for a change. Root seemed to be in an imperious mood.
A very poor show from England today
I know, they really should have won!
But shout out to Ben Stokes as the stand out player

I come from Nottingham and, believe me, there is no deference to Birmingham at all!People in Bradford, Sheffield, Hull, Middlesbrough, Huddersfield etc do not defer to Leeds in the same way that people in the Midlands or home counties defer to Birmingham and London. On the contrary, there is immense sporting and civic rivalry between the cities of Yorkshire. Frankly I want any team called Leeds to lose.
Agreed = Vince keeps failing to take the opportunities he is given. How many more will he be given?
Surely no more after that. Fantastic ball but you need to do better early doors.
Australia ensured that their innings went off to a good start, with an opening partnership with a good number of runs, which allowed later batsmen to build upon.
