Cross Country Timings: HST or Voyager?

Whilst consulting the Working Timetable for Cross Country diversions on 27th January, using Open Train Times, it occurred to me that an unusually high number of trains were timed for HST operation: of the 27 trains diverted from Burton, 12 of them were timed for HSTs, as opposed to Voyagers. Can anyone tell me whether these trains timed for HSTs are actually booked for HSTs, or are they just timed for HSTs for performance or any other purposes?

Thanks in advance.

1. The trains running via Leicester on Sundays until 10th February are posted below: (None of the trains are booked to stop at Leicester). (The traction indicated below is what the timings are for)
2. The Derby to Birmingham line is closed for engineering works between Derby and Burton-on-Trent.

I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Between Leicester and Derby the maximum line speed is 110mph. which would be achieved by either a Voyager or an HST wouldn't it?

Yes but the acceleration characteristics of a 221 are quite different to that of an HST. I am asking whether the Cross Country Trains being diverted this way are booked for the trains they are timed for (e.g. if a train is timed for a High Speed Train, is it booked for an HST). Sorry if there was any confusion or this post sounds a bit aggressive.

If it was a performance bodge by XC, they would all be timed as HST. Though knowing XC, they would still want the quickest times possible so it could well be gospel and they put out the traction as timed.

The won't all be HSTs as there are only 5 CrossCountry HST sets

As per the diagrams above, XC services are turning at BHM due to engineering work, hence more HST Timings

We frequently have to point that "open train times" is not suitable for identifying the diagrammed type of traction. It is, in effect, for timing purposes. All types of the traction shewn sre suitable for the speed of the train.

Yes, but it some cases it can be used to see the booked stock. Like why would XC just randomly time some services for HSTs when they aren't? Even though, yes, they have, you can often think like that and find out the correct booked stock

Because the trains are usually timed before the amended diagrams are finalised. A voyager on HST timings will gain time, but an HST on voyager timings may lose time, though usually not enough to cause a problem.
