Over the weekend the XC 170s swapped over. 170112 has been replaced by 170113 now. It caught me off guard until I saw photos on Facebook. 170101 and 170112 in the new XC colours now.

All units have first class declassified, even unrefurbished ones. What was first class on those units is in an absolute state though.

To be fair, since the last refurb over 10 years ago, the 170s have been hammered on a daily basis, so it's no surprise the state they are in...

Though admittedly, Arriva haven't gone out of their way to look after them.

Yes.

All units have first class declassified, even unrefurbished ones.

I will add that the refurbishment has actually replaced the 2+1 seating in the former first class area with 2+2 seating (which makes up for the seats lost due to the separation of the wheelchair and bicycle areas).

No it's not. The list is currently: 170101 and 170112 already done and 170113 currently going through the process.

I've seen the first refurbished unit a few times recently and it is now carrying the number 0101 at both ends. Any reason why?

Should add that i mistakenly said both ends so if it is only at one of them then that explanation is probably spot on but the number has only been on for a few weeks so it wasn't done very well.

I have just seen 101 today at Cambridge. The number is in full at the Coach C end.

My train today (1K07) was operated by 170103.

I thought even "permanent" markers can wash off though, and no it's not!

If you look at the schedule for 5H04 it departs Birmingham New St, goes "round the houses" then back into New St to go to Tyseley - hence two Birmingham times.

You were spot on. 0101 it is again with the 17 practically disappeared doubtless due to the rain. It is on the Birmingham - Stansted / Leicester route today and i wish I'd have whipped out my phone and taken a photo of it but it was too quick for me.
