Sorry to revive this thread, but I thought it prudent given the current strike.
I want to play devil's advocate just a little here. Engineering is supposed to be decided three months in advance (I know that hasn't always happened in recent years but let's assume everything goes well and it's put in the system on time). This is well-established, and I don't think engineering work has ever been planned with 12 months' notice. But it would be preposterous, I think, to assume that whenever your journey is delayed by engineering work that you are therefore entitled to a refund if you hold an annual season ticket.
Annual season ticket holders also endure two timetable changes during their ticket's validity. Again, even if there's a timetable change that's disadvantageous to their particular journey, I don't think it's reasonable that they'd be able to claim delay repay for each day of their journey until the end of their ticket's validity.
I would like you to convince me that strikes are somehow different, because I hold an annual season ticket and would quite like to be able to get a month's worth of delay repay
