What exactly does the medical consist of ?
Test your sight by reading the letter chart on the wall, like at an optician's. Bring your glasses if you wear glasses. They test you are not colourblind. Hearing test by sitting in a glass box and listening out for beeps. Check your heart by strapping you up with those pads you see when footballers etc have medicals! Drug test by urinating into a cup. Ask you some basic questions. That's about it if I recall correctly.

Where would one go to get their ears cleaned out? It's really difficult to hear that damn beeping test lol
I just done a quick google search of ear wax removal and found a local (Sunningdale) Private GP, cost £68 for both.
I have heard of people being deferred for ear wax (it won’t effect anything but will only slow the process down).

That would make sense then I suppose so probably will be closer to November time then before I find out when I have the interview I would imagine.

Any advise from anyone who sat the DMI already any tricky questions or any other thing to watch out for or any general advise would be great?

Thanks.

Look back in this thread, people gave feedback last week about their DMI's.

Genuinely really straight forward and they’re lovely people mate. It felt like more of an insight into them than an interview.

Exactly this. Unless you have a medical condition that may require further information from a GP or specialist.

I genuinely thought we’d of heard something by now, given the first medical is on Thursday.

I guess that's why they told people when the first medical was, because they knew they may well reply super last minute.
Yeah I suppose that’s true. I think this is a first for them too (doing such a large recruitment).
It’s a great insight for those new to the railway too, nothing ever happens fast.

I'm just waiting and waiting! I really need to hear back now. I'm suppose to fly out this month and that's exactly when medicals are taking place!

On the plus side, we know the two medical dates for this month. So if it’s gone beyond that, then perhaps that’s sign of being unsuccessful.

I can only really make one of them. So I'm really on strings hoping I hear back.

Ahhh... I'd rather hear back knowing I was unsuccessful if that was the case which I hope it isn't.

I asked them at the interview and they said they would contact everyone whether they are successful or not. I would imagine they will be emailing by close of business today or first thing tomorrow morning (not much of a prediction given the timescale remaining!)

I am so on edge that when I received an email from GTR earlier today and when I saw the alert my eyes and brain tricked me into thinking it said DRS!

I had the same email today. With a similar moment of excitement.

I don’t think this would rule you out mate, they may well just prioritise others first.
