08605 will be around for awhile pending a new commercial hire contract. Meanwhile, I understand that the new Shottle Down platform is in use, especially at 2 train events, but not generally.

Members of this forum living in Derbyshire may be interested to know that the EVR has joined forces with Derbyshire Now magazine, distributed by Derbyshire County Council. At the back of the current issue there are vouchers giving two adult rover tickets for the price of one between June and the end of September.

The recently arrived shunter, Wigan 2 formerly 08 605 has had the vacuum brakes reinstated and underwent a successful brake test. The diesel locomotive weekend on 11/12 August should see it in action, possibly double headed with the other 08.

The Bus Gala on Sunday 1st July and the Transport Gala on 14/15 July will both feature an hourly service with two train working through Shottle Down platform.

Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Annual Classic Transport Weekend

Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July 2018

Cars, motorcycles, lorries - plenty of classic gather at Wirksworth for a weekend of travelling back to the past. An intensive train timetable will operate on the Duffield line - two train operation using the passing loop at Shottle. The ideal opportunity to view progress on the signalling work so far. Please see our website for more information and timetable.

Meanwhile, an ex Network Rail ferry van has arrived from Peterborough, to be used as a stores vehicle; it is dual air and vacuum braked and must be one of the very last steam age freight vehicles left theoretically on the network, though I gather it stood out of use in an overgrown siding for 20 years or so.

I Went to the EVR on Sun 01 July, it was a great day indeed, with old buses and trains, the staff there are really nice too.

Glad you enjoyed it.

The roster for the Transport Weekend, 14/15 July, both days, is 47406 on five coaches, plus a 3 car met-cam DMU on the Duffield service, plus a Barclay tank on brake van rides on the incline. 31 206 will work the Tuesday afternoon tea service.

The perspex bottomed ex-Blackpool battery tram is back for more bogie design tests.

I saw the ferry van travelling on a lorry along the A6 - but strangely heading Southwards from Bakewell to Matlock - seems a very strange routeing from Peterborough.

Only trains from Matlock to Derby and Nottingham stop at Duffield, so change at Derby is the only way. There is one train a day each way from/to Sheffield which calls at Belper but the timing is no help for a day trip to Duffield.

Thanks some EMT services are showing
Bus replacements at chesterfield after 10:35
But before there is a train at 0919 that stops at Derby so is there only certain times that have a bus replacement

Depends when you are travelling - the timetable varies depending upon the Derby resignalling blockade.
check the full details at https://www.derby2018.co.uk/timetables/
There's always the hourly Stagecoach X17 bus from Sheffield and Chesterfield to Matlock, then the TrentBarton 6.1 bus from Matlock to Wirksworth

Trains from Sheffield to Chesterfield, then buses to Derby on those dates, shown on both the EM and XC timetable on the weblink above
