I'd like to pull together a list of benefits available to ENCTS/NEC/cerdyn cymru holders available in OTHER areas to the county/town they live.

Here are the few I am aware of:

Blackpool Tramways - holders of any British senior/disabled card can travel for free - this wording was taken from posters at the stops, however online it does seem to stipulate English. Can anyone correct this?

North Yorkshire - any ENCTS holder can use buses from 09:00 to 09:29 and before 09:00 on certain routes as per the easement document.

London - any ENCTS holder can use buses displaying the red roundel at any time as per this link.

There must be others? Would listing operator-level enhancements be of interest to forum readers?

My NowCard can be used anywhere in England (Mainland only I think) on all buses and coaches, Blackpool tramway and has been in the past accepted through human barriers on Manchester Metrolink.

Non-residents of Tyne & Wear can purchase a 'Gold Card' for £35[*] from Nexus, which then gives;
  • Unlimited travel anytime on Metro, Shields Ferry and Northern Rail's Newcastle-Sunderland services in July and August
  • Unlimited travel after 09:30 Mon-Fri (anytime weekends/bank holidays) on these services for the rest of the year.
It's normally loaded onto an ENCTS card, but there's nothing to say it cant be loaded onto the other national cards.

* It costs £25 for Tyne & Wear resident ENCTS card holders.

This is interesting. Has anyone here had this £35 ticket loaded onto a non-Nexus card?

West Yorkshire has the small benefit of including travel between 2300 and the end of service(where there are buses still running). This does not appear to only be for local residents -

However this seems to conflict with information that the passes are not valid on Night buses.

Both of your assertions are correct (though I believe the only 'night bus' in west yorkshire nowadays is route 1 Leeds-Lawnswood).

Yes, over the years First has got rid of all the night buses in Halifax, Huddersfield, Leeds and Bradford. I only remember them being innovative twice with nightbuses - once introducing a Leeds - Bradford - Halifax service 3 times on a Friday and Saturday night and having a trial of new night routes in Leeds. Neither were allowed to run for very long.

This wasn't what I meant. Your pass is valid on buses throughout England from 09:30 to 23:00 and all day weekends/bank hols. England includes the Isle of Wight, but doesn't include scotland/ireland/wales/isle of Man/channel isles.

The purpose of my thread was to list the _national enhancements.

And?

Given it's a different scheme introduced by a different parliament it's hardly surprising the terms and conditions are different.

I assume you meant "except" rather than "expect"?

Maybe I wasn't clear. I wanted to become familiar with (partly for my own use, and partly to benefit forum members with these passes) enhancements beyond the English minimum available to visitors from elsewhere in England.

There must be others, surely?

Although not strictly in England, IIRC, the "All Wales Concessionary Bus Pass" issued by Conwy County Council also allows free travel over the Conwy Valley railway line from Llandudno to Blaenau Ffestiniog during the winter months.

Also, I believe Conway CC sells the National Rail Senior Citizens Card at its libraries for £25 pa, instead of the £28 charged at stations.

All very good stuff for the good folks of Conwy - and I'm not the slightest bit jealous because I live a few miles over the border in Denbighshire!

So with the removal of the Blackpool flexity tram ENCTS concession (from Tuesday) will the only free journey on rails that ENCTS holders be able to enjoy be Sheffield Supertram? (this question excludes local only benefits)

From today (31/03/14) passes can only be used between 0930 and 2300 M-F and all day weekends and Bank Holidays. Out of SY pass holders can still use Supertram. However SY pass holders previously were able to use trains for journeys completed within SY as well as Northern into West Yorkshire. The train concession has been withdrawn as part of a Budget Cuts.

So, if your not a SY Pass Holder come to SY to ride on our tram while you still can!

But the way I read it, from today any ENCTS holder (not just TSY) can travel for free on the supertram?

Yes, that was my (clearly poorly explained - sorry) point.

It looks as if Supertram is the ONLY tram network that accepts passes from elsewhere in England.
