Do we know how many of the ones with GA are now officially 'withdrawn' awaiting transfer, and how many remain 'available for traffic'.
I was told by a GA driver that some are stored at Ilford for mods before transferring to EMR, although I’m not sure what mods they would need - perhaps mods to do with working with the hauled locos. That’s why they’re now a declining sight on the GEML routes - even the drivers aren’t sure whether they’re getting a 360 or 321 on their booked diagrams.

At least two pairs still working on GA Saturday and a single unit reported working the Manningtree to Harwich Town shuttle

It's a bit pre-emptive no? I thought that they'd notionally be based at Kettering with varying degrees of maintenance done at Bedford and Northampton?

Light maintenance will be done at Bedford while heavy maintenance will be done at Northampton I believe. Kettering sidings are to allow some units to be stored and cleaned while not in service.

I wouldn't be looking too much into the origins of the Chricklewood sticker. It's clearly not an official EMR one and such BR depot stickers are fairly readily available.

116 was the first unit to operate on electric power, so the staff at Cricklewood must’ve put it on for that reason.

The fact it hasn't even been put on straight shows that it is not official...

As well as the lop-sided depot sticker the edges of the white band look uneven. The blue seems to have lost its shine.
Overall, the impression it gives me is of scruffy neglect.

Agree with the blue - the white band is because of the angle I took the photo. 117’s white band is in tatters though.

Thank you for that.
My point was that, at the moment, the 360s are on training runs on the newly-electrified route, making station calls. Passengers waiting on these stations will see their new trains in the present condition and perhaps not be attracted by the prospect.
But the 222s are not in a great state internally, either.

There's not a great deal you can do about that - you can't just hide them away until they've been repainted!

They will be eventually repainted and refurbished, although Covid has delayed it. I think until that happens as long as they have a deep clean internally then they’ll be deemed “travel friendly”, although given the state the 180s entered service with EMR this is highly unlikely...

Another two units due next week from Clacton this time to Cricklewood hauled by something with a nose.
Seeing as 37510 was there last week, I would say it is a safe bet that this is what you are alluring to.

360116 has failed on the up fast at Belsize Tunnel and been stuck there for several hours. A rescue unit has attempted to move it and the combined formation is still in difficulty.

107 and 116 ready to be hauled back - note how 107’s pantograph is up whilst 116’s is down.

Not now, no; but perhaps it could have been foreseen. Training has been delayed by the postponement of energisation, no-one can say it was unexpected.

Personally, I find this sort of thing disheartening. I really want investment in the industry, and more electrification, but when that actually happens the industry seems to be giving the impression that they find everything's difficult. Doesn't create the right climate, IMO.
