What makes it even worse is that to publish videos where you behave like this that the individuals think it is clever

This thread has been cleaned a bit - stay on topic and just because you can't start baiting some members as we have a firmer stance on it doesn't mean you should start baiting others.

It's getting rather repetitive and tiring.

Let that be a warning to all of you - you know who you are.

What if Germans where in the train? And they heard you? Would they be pleased? Fair enough have your likes and dislikes of trains, I mean c'mon we all do. But don't bring country's into the argument. Besides, Westerns have German engines and they are beasts.

Too polite? Doesn't want to waste his time and money? Doesn't wish to be associated in any way with the fools?

Glad I don't post or contribute to that group from which those members are on anymore. I'll well known for liking HSTs, especially Valentas. But these guys are taking the micky...Sooooo glad I hadn't turned up on that Dawlish meet.

The Alcohol has been banned from meets.

Starcross saftey issues has been passed on to FGW.

Hopefully this will help the issues made.

One point - enthusiasts should know better than to even step on the different colour of the platform - which is the equivalent of the yellow line in this situation ....

There were no safety issues at Starcross. Most people would consider standing close to a fast train as stupid and hence don't do it!

Valid point, but would a normal passenger know that? I dont believe so, and nor do i!

simple was there a yellow line if so you know the rules/procerure?

There is no yellow line, so the group implimented the yellow line from dawlish as that was the only thing we could do to think of saftey.

You maybe hardcore enthusiasts but the rules of the station about no yellow line means ppl have to judge the line themselves.

Saftey is a major concern for that station and maybe others too along the line.

I do believe so - and if you went on and asked passengers they'd say they'd go nowhere near the platform edge.

You are an enthusiast - by doing actions like that make us all look bad. Pathetic.

Why the hell were you standing on the paving slabs then?

You maybe hardcore enthusiasts but the rules of the station about no yellow line means ppl have to judge the line themselves.
People aren't dumb enough to be waving their arms which if the train came by could hit them are they?

Saftey is a major concern for that station and maybe others too along the line.
Saftey isn't - but perhaps safety is.

Either way the offending videos should be removed.

I am a part time enthusiast, i dont do the train bit alot since i have many other interests, and i wasnt near the edge of the platform, maybe you should look up zoom, and then say to me if i was?

Paving slabs? i dont see a warning sign there?

The waves, well u know why they are doing it, and 90% of drivers waved back!

The video's are not of concern, someone said to me, be prepared for the BTP, id welcome them round and ask them if they would put a yellow line down for the safety! (cheers for the spelling correction)

EDIT - This is the first time Valeg have been put into a debate about safety, all other meets were a success and have had positive feedback from the meets.

Its absolutly no excuse.

I could walk onto the track and could be prosecuted for trespass. "There were no signs"

The fact that fast trains are within inches of you would suggest you shouldn't stand there surely ??

Look at the paving slabs. See the edge of them. Do you not think that the edge of them constitutes the "line of safety".

Zoom doesn't change field of view - it only changes distance of view - therefore zoom would have no effect as to what the picture would be where you are standing on the platform - in fact if anything it gives us a better perspective, especially as there doesn't seem to be any obstructions in the video.

A lot of the drivers may be waving back - but do you not think they could also be waving to tell you to be in a place of safety rather than jumping up and down looking like a load of idiots on the edge of the platform....

The BTP are more likely to arrest you for dangerous behaviour on railway property rather than ask for suggestions on how to improve safety. Besides, being ignorant if a yellow line isn't there doesn't matter, on average the yellow line is 80cm I think from the platform edge ....

I understand common sense point made. and yes fast trains? that would surely say to FGW about improvements need to be made!

One person was very close and looks like hes being a bit stubborn and quiet so i will apologise for his judgement.

But for me, only one apology to make, thats alcohol, but the main debate on my position, i WONT back down, i KNOW where i was!

Yes the behaviour was unusual for this meet, i dont believe the mistake will be made again since the next meet is a station that has a yellow line and is also a station that has been done once before.

I would seriously say to people on this forum that are angry over the video's done, i can only apologise and say that we are not chavs at all, and is something that makes Valeg members very unhappy about!

Valeg has done very well for its other meets and has done well to increase in numbers, as well as the amount of members joining. Its ever growing and that this debate will not stop ppl from joining on these meets.

I occasionaly do vids alone not with valeg as sometimes i require the enviroment of the station within my vids. And for that i go alone.

Rejecting other enthusiasts will only make you look bad and judgemental, your opinion of valeg members that went to the meet as chavs is unacceptable! I expect an aplogy here for this will keep on trying to bridge with other enthusaists to create a truce.

Valeg will continue with meets, and will continue to take on the advice of staff in the train companys as it has done in the past.

Paving slabs to me, in honesty, mean nothing as to any normal person, paving slabs are something we walk on without any info of danger or a warning.

Your words on the 80cm from edge of platform will be taken note and thankyou for that advice.
