Staying on as an MEP though, couldn't say no to another few years of earning lots of money for doing nothing.

I wouldn't say nothing, he managed to insult all his fellow MEPs last week in the ultimate act of hypocrisy and being a decidely dark-coloured pot giving a harsh kettle review...

I won't believe it for a few months just in case he makes another Jesus-like (as he probably saw it anyway) comeback.

I suspect he has realised that the final Brexit situation will be not much different to what we have now, except that will be controlled by 'unelected bureaucrats' (sic) over which we will have lost whatever democratic control that we presently have.

Best response I've heard so far "Farage is stepping down to spend my time with his family, who are devastated to hear the news."

he pushed for the exit vote in the referendum
he has divided the UK
Further he has dived the population of the UK
Now he has jumped ship before his ship sinks
Good ridance , but how long will it take for UK to recover from his extremist influence on voters

Or perhaps he's planning to join the Conservative Party.

He will probably do his time as MEP, then apply for a Senior Civil Service position dealing with Trade Negotiations. It has been realised that before he can apply for such as job, he wouldn't be able to represent UKIP or any other Political party.

Stepping down as leader free's him up to do this or explore other options (going back into the City)

To be fair, I think most Leave campaigners have done just that, not just Monsieur Farage.

This sure has been an interesting time for politics. Farage, Gove and Bojo have been excellent trolls.

My Flag is the same as yours, but he led and influenced, along with other senior politiciens and has now jumped ship and left others to find the life boats

Yesterday Nigel Farage was caught on camera enjoying a garden party with the rich and powerful, including Rupert Murdoch, Liam Fox and billionaire Evgeny Lebedev. But he is leaving the door open if the UK does not get a Brexit he likes.

Yes people; the UKIP is there for the ordinary folks!

Christ no. Just no. Him as a trade negotiator would consign this country to the oblivion of WTO rules (his last speech to the European Parliament proves how immature he is). He needs to sink into obscurity never to be heard of again.

Farage claims that he never was a politician, but is already 17 years in the European Parlement. He must so do something right to get his lifestyle paid. Or is it paid by Murdoch or someone else.

Perhaps he has decided to join the NHS to help them spend the £350m per week which will help to make our health services better. Such a selfless public servant

The worrying thing is, as I have said on the Tory leadership thread, that the Conservatives will now lurch to the Right to embrace UKIP. They have been falling over each other today to say explicitly that people could be deported. I am disgusted with the lot of them.

Is he retiring to a villa in Spain or Italy? <D

If so he had better hurry up before he needs a visa.

We need Godfrey Bloom back - he of "women are slut's for not cleaning behind the fridge" ilk or whatever it was.

Seriously who will replace him Paul Nuttall ?

Either way, Farag will most likely retire to Bongo Bongoland with Herr Bloom.

I sincerely hope this is said in jest, bearing in mind the UKIP party affiliation and the headlines such a term made previously.
