The forum hosts fares workshops, which are completely free to attend, where we assist you with any questions you have regarding fares matters and show you how to understand various rules of ticketing, such as the Routeing Guide.

They are informal and we allow and encourage attendees to set the topics and ask the questions. For those who are already familiar with the general concepts, we occasionally hold 'Advanced fares workshops' for people to discuss ideas, problems and solutions in greater depth.

Here are what some people have said about them:

I would be interested in attending a Fares workshop. London is best for me, as that's where I work, though I might be able to get to other locations.

Many thanks to Yorkie and Mojo for the fares workshop yesterday, which I found enjoyable and useful.

Among other things, a great demonstration of how to use the Routeing Guide to see routes you can take, and interesting examples of good value fares.

I'll second that. Yorkie gave us some useful hints and tips on routing and how to create interesting and useful itineries, - all fully within the rules. The session was very enjoyable and the time just rushed by.
Thanks also to Mojo for his advice including about excesses and fare easements. I think everybody there went away well informed.

Thank you Yorkie and the other Birmingham attendees for a most interesting and informative session, and particularly thank you Yorkie, for your organisation and hospitality.

I never heard a firm date for the London one - was I looking in the wrong place?

Can I register my interest in a future fares workshop? Somewhere accessible from Wigan/Manchester-ish ideally, but whatever.
    Thanks in advance :)

I'd be interested in a fares workshop in the Midlands, or anywhere within reasonable travelling distance (London, Manchester, Leeds etc.)

Please do post to this thread if you are interested in joining us at a fares workshop, and we'll arrange more once we know how much demand there is and where people want them to be held :)

We do have a couple of fares data workshops coming up, one in London and another in Sheffield. If you are interested in these, please contact me for more information.

They are free to attend (though one day I may end up being too busy to run them, so sign up for them while you can)

Yes :) (with the caveat that we may repeat some of the same stuff, and also if we are full, we'll give priority to others who have not yet attended)

We will also hold 'Advanced' fares workshops, aimed at people who have already attended and/or are already fairly experienced, from time to time too. :)

Clearly there is sufficient demand for a North West one, but other locations can be considered. We've never yet held any in Wales, South West England, East Anglia etc for example, but if there is ever sufficient demand, we will do so.

Keep me in mind when the next NW one is fixed and if there is no-one in need of a place - it's always been very interesting to attend.

Should the Sheffield date be Sunday 18th February?
    What would be the times?

Sorry the original post was made a year ago today. I've removed those references.

We will post the Doodle links in due course; for now just reply to express an interest along with details of requested locations, so we know roughly what the level of demand is.

I'd be happy to host a workshop anywhere if there is sufficient interest, but so far North West England and London are definite!

Here is a list of members who have expressed an interest (let me know if I've got anything wrong)

I'd be interested in an advanced North West one if it was on a Sunday.

London is no problem for me, really. As long as it's not Scotland or the South West, I'm up for it!

I would like to do a North West Advanced workshop. The sooner the better in terms of dates.
