The forum hosts fares workshops, which are completely free to attend, where we assist you with any questions you have regarding fares matters and show you how to understand various rules of ticketing, such as the Routeing Guide.
They are informal and we allow and encourage attendees to set the topics and ask the questions. For those who are already familiar with the general concepts, we occasionally hold 'Advanced fares workshops' for people to discuss ideas, problems and solutions in greater depth.
Here are what some people have said about them:

Just posting to say I attended the fares workshop in Manchester yesterday and I would really recommend it to anyone who is interested in railway ticketing and the routeing guide. The amount I've learnt and some of the things I've been shown have really opened my eyes and you won't find out about them any other way.
Fares Workshops come well recommended from me. I am not an expert on splitting or working out overdistance fares (I will rarely be able to help with these requests on the forums) but I do know about ticket types and restrictions, and how the terms apply to the ordinary customer. I don't run the workshops but I have attended one and it was very helpful indeed...
I'd just like to say a big Thank You to Yorkie for organising the workshop and to everyone else for their input. I certainly learned a few things during it and the time flew by. A very complex subject but there are plenty of little snippets of information for all participants to take away...
I'd just like to echo The Colonel's sentiments and say thank's to Yorkie for setting the workshop up. It was great to meet some of the faces behind the names, I had a thoroughly enjoyable time and I am looking forward to attending the next one sometime in the near future.
I went to the last Manchester one and very educational !.
I'd just like to say thank you to the organizers for Saturday's workshop, and for those thinking of attending the next one I highly recommend it! Whether you're a newbie passenger or experienced staff everyone can learn something. We were given hands on advice and practical examples, all of which went to understanding more about the complex and sometimes bizarre fares system we have.
Just to say thanks to Jake F, Yorkie & co for organising/hosting the Liverpool fares workshop that took place on Sunday 20 September. Well worth going for anyone who wants to find out a bit more about what can be, a complex subject!
I'd certainly be interested in attending an advanced workshop should one be arranged for a future date.
Thanks to all for yesterday's workshop. Very interesting, particularly the routeing guide.
If anyone is interested, reply here (or send me a PM)I went to one in Sheffield recently-if you haven't been to one, they are fantastic! You will learn a lot, they are extremely informative events, well worth going to!
