Some changes to routes from the 8th, with services going to off-peak timetables due to, I would assume, lack of staff, partially due (as I understand) to drivers who have been brought in from other areas needing to go back.
I see there have been more changes, sorry reductions, with the 1 going to every 15 minutes and the 10 to every 20 minutes, the X54 is now just four journeys. X51 and X53 still two hourly. These are from 4 September. They are on the News and Service Updates part of the website but lower down than the introduction of the summer timetables. But then if you go on the coronavirus pages it says more changes from 19 September reducing the services due to the driver shortage, but as far as I can see the times are the same (at least on the 10) as from 5 September. Again this item is below an earlier one announcing an increase in services! But better to reduce the frequency than make random cuts.

You have to look carefully as it is the odd journeys that are missing in the current 1, 2, 10 timetables. For example the 1140 Route 10 from Weymouth is not shown on weekdays. Apparently the reduction in frequency on the 1 ,10 and X54 is for the winter season.

You are right. I hadn't looked carefully (nor has BusTimes, that shows some journeys that don't exist). There is no 11.40 Weymouth to Poundbury nor 12.23 return. Also there is no 16.40 Weymouth to Poundbury but there is a 17.23 return, looks like it works off school route B2. That's shocking. How to lose passengers!

Omnicity’s 65007 and 65020 YN54 NZC/U are now both at Buses of Somerset (Taunton). Southampton City-Red Streetlite 47424 SK63 KMU is now at Weymouth on loan covering for 47408 SK63 KLL, which is off for repaint into the new local livery.

37581 was also used as the commentary box parked on the promenade pavement opposite Alexandra Gardens. Was looking great in the very warm sunshine in its new green paint!

Morning all. Apologies if the answer to this has already been given somewhere, but is it currently still possible to bag a ride on a remaining Omnicity around Portsmouth? I presume they're all imminently about to be banned with the low emission nonsense, are any still likely to turn up on the 3 etc?

Many thanks!

there are still 3 Omnicitys in service in Portsmouth at the moment (2 of which are working today) and they only work routes 1 and 3. They are on borrowed time however and due to be withdrawn before the low emission zone.

Lovely - thanks for that! Which three are left?

Have the rest all been cascaded?

left in Portsmouth are 65006/08/11. Wessex currently have 65022 and 65025 in service and Buses of Somerset have 65007/19/20. The rest have been withdrawn from service.

The ones with Buses of Somerset are not going to last much longer as it has been reported the are in line to be replaced by the deckers due in the coming months (reported on the First South West thread).
The ones with Solent won't be in service much longer with them not suitable for the air quality measures coming in, and the East Lancs Lolynes are also on borrowed time as are due to transfer to Buses of Somerset in April 2022 (reported on the First South West thread).
The ones with Wessex are likely also on borrowed time as the other that were with them have also been withdrawn or transferred out.

I can confirm that the ones with Somerset are out and about!

I drove them from new, they were a nightmare in the early days. The general concensus was that First were hoping they'd found a cheaper alternative to the then-staple Volvo/Wright. They weren't bad things to pilot, comfy cabs and nippy enough. The bodywork build quality was dreadful though, as was the suspension. They seemed to improve with age somehow! I noticed several years ago that they'd started receiving plating at the base of the rear seats where the floor was splitting, presumably due to them sagging at the back end. It'll be a shame when they've all gone, they're the last 'proper' full size single deckers in service in the area now, everything else is the usual rattling lightweight mediocrity!
