Also it’s been reported that six or so StreetDecks from Leeds are going to Southampton. These will displace some StreetLites to Essex

AIUI 4x 6306x Streetlite Max to Essex from Southampton, replaced by the 4 Streetdecks from Leeds.

A number of 47xxx Streetlites to Brissle in exchange for the 3 Geminis to Hoeford.

I speculate that the arrival of the Geminis releases the last of the EL bodied Tridents to Somerset.

It's hard to keep up......

Following a quick look at Flickr, it appears that the first of the ex Leeds Streetdecks (35206 & 35205) have now arrived at Empress Road. (not my photo)

Are these deckers into Southampton just for school work or are they intending to put deckers back onto one of the city services?

I think you'd have to suspect that they will go onto city services and that B9s will take on schools work?
Indeed, but it must presumably therefore be a city service justifying deckers either on loadings or a competitive venture (unlikely!), otherwise why mess around with a completely standardised fleet?

I believe the Streetdecks are intended for certain boards on the cross city route 3, Lordshill to Thornhill. The drivetrain is the same as Streetlites of similar age!

AFAIK the B9s are intended for Hoeford for schools/colleges/uni work, though I've no doubt both they and the Streetdecks will be used on rail replacement at weekends.

Nice to see Southampton City Red get some deckers, when did they have deckers on a route? I rarely see deckers on the X4/X5 now as well.

Identity of the 3rd former Leeds Streetdeck has been revealed as 35209 today in it's new City Reds colours. It does however, use the same template as the Green Dorset and Blue Solent liveries, with the addition of some slightly odd silver embellishments.

When was the last time Cityred had deckers in Southampton?
There have never been double decks in CityRed livery, so these are the first. Three Volvo B7TLs operated in Southampton during the height of the pandemic (approx April to June 2020) before moving on to Cornwall (fleet numbers 37163-5). Other than that, I can’t remember the last double decks - think it might have been the same batch of Volvo B7TLs before they permanently moved to Hoeford in early 2018.

It has gone to the Southampton Depot presumably to be repainted before moving to Weymouth.

Don't know in this case but First tend to use Qualiti Conversions at Botley
Yes that’s right

Weymouth’s Volvo B9TL Gemini 1 37580 HX08 DHL is now at Quality Conversions, assuming to be repainted ahead of transfer to Solent now that the first MMC from Bristol (33968) is in the area.

I know that advertising makes additional money, but sometime's I really can't but feel it adds to the clutter on a livery like this. Presumably this will also end up being repainted into the new Solent Blue?

Not withstanding that, it's a bit grubby.

The Cityred double deckers are not yet in service. Anyone know when they are?

33968 now in Jurassic Coaster livery.

We're delighted to announce that better buses are coming soon to the Jurassic Coaster network, and each bus will feature a different Dinosaur on the back.

See if you can spot them all as they enter service this spring/summer!

From what I've been told these MMCs will be replacing 37580 to 37586 but if they're going to be painted into Jurassic Coast livery I'm curious to know if the E400s and former Greenline B9s will stay on the Jurassic Coast services alongside the MMCs.

I would imagine the Jurassic Coaster Geminis remaining at Wessex will be displaced to the rest of the Wessex network and the E400s will remain on Coaster routes as they only recently received the livery and refurb.

It's rumoured to be the other way round, but nothing official. The E400s were never refurbished.

Now that's odd - I'd have thought they would have chosen to introduce a stylised Jurassic Coaster livery based around the new Wessex livery template, than effectively continue on the older Urban base design. It does look smart though!
