I can't see the C1, C30 and C48 on this map but other tendered services operated by First have been added.

No article about it on the website yet, but most if not all the Falkirk changes forthcoming timetables are now up on the First website.

It looks like the only change has been, to put half the 1 to Barnego Road instead of Ingleston Avenue.

Big question has to be why has Stirling fallen on such hard times? It has a uni and tourist, and clackmananshire is rather compact.

It can't all be down to the awful and over priced tickets?

What's worrying is Every depot has to make profit and if bannockburn isn't hitting the mark just now and they expect these changes to do so . ?? I'm not convinced .

I think it's just covering its cost, because of the uni. That is the only reason why First is still in the town. But it's bonkers what going on here, Awful routes the awful tickets. There should spilt the U1 into speratae routes
* U1: UNI - town centre - cowie
* U2: UNi - Town centre - St. Ninians
* U3: UNi - Town centre - whins of milton.
* U4: Uni - Bridge of allan - Town centre
each every 20mins, While during the short xmas period and Summer holls make it every 30mins with the U3 stopping at the Town centre. I wonder if First would go after the two Park n Ride services? Springkerse one is very busy. There is so much room to grab new passengers.

I think that the OP needs to amend the title of the thread - these are certainly not "improvements", not as far as anyone in Stirling will be concerned!

If the University is the main out-of-town destination then why move from a network where almost everywhere has direct University links (to Alloa, Cowie, Glasgow etc) to one where University buses don't serve anywhere other than central Stirling (and Bridge of Allan on the 54)?

A speeded up X39 could be more attractive to University Students (a direct bus, rather than changing in Stirling to get a Glasgow train), but it's being terminated at the bus station. And why renumber it the X36 (if there's no remaining "39")?

The 51 to Cowie looks like the final throes of a service that they want to withdraw, but are going to give it a few more months until the indirect route means almost everyone remotely healthy gives up and walks a short distance for a frequent service on a parallel route (e.g. the 38).

And if you want to interwork Cowie services with Alloa services then why not run Cowie - Stirling - Tillicoutry - Alloa (so that Cowie gets a direct service to the outskirts of the University)? The 51 feels like tinkering with services to disguise a frequency reduction - but we don't have to advertise it as a frequency reduction because the old service is being replaced by a "new" service (just, a new service that runs less frequently).

I get that the train has taken a big chunk of Stirling - Alloa passengers. But the train goes no further than Alloa. So, turning half of the Stirling - Tullobody - Alloa services into terminators (not running through to Tillicoutry etc) would be a good opportunity to reintroduce Stirling -
Clackmannan services. Instead of doing this, they are withdrawing the remaining commercial service to Clackmannan. At least that'd have seen First offer something that the train can't compete with. If I were Stagecoach, I'd be looking into the feasibility of an increased Kincardine - Alloa service (especially given the long distance connections at Kincardine).

The most frustrating thing about the Stirling changes is that the Falkirk ones looked pretty reasonable (Bo'Ness/ Winchburgh passengers aside). Falkirk gets a simpler network, a return to some "historic" routes (e.g. the 5), a good spread of services to the main out-of-town destination (Forth Valley Royal Hospital)... Stirling sees virtually every corridor downgraded other than the University - First appear to be putting all of their eggs in one basket - making it much easier for another company to compete (it may take years to find a niche on a "local" service but Students can be very fickle when it comes to a competing service with cheaper fares - plus the regular turnover of Students means that there's no long term loyalty). How quickly a "Magic Bus" could sweep into that market and leave the remainder of Bannockburn's operation looking pretty threadbare. First seem to be playing a dangerous game.

Well its was supposed to be improvement, but I will look again at the title ;) dont kid your self that the train has taken a big chunk out of Stirling - Alloa passengers. There can still be extremely busy, with buses leaving both ends with a much, higher percentage that what First demand per bus v passengers should have.

First was warned over the changes to the Bo'ness route ages ago but it seem the new person in control A: doesn't care or B: wants to get rid. I agree that Stagecoach could come in, take over Mackie.. It could be onto a killer

Agree that the new Stirling network is a bit of a mess. Looks like something cobbled together for operational convenience rather than an attempt to grow things.

Aside from Prudential, the University is the only big employer/destination locally, so it would make sense to make it the focus of the bus network. Although even here, a high percentage of Stirling students live on-campus, so maybe not as much demand as you’d think. A big problem though must be the fact that although it’s an affluent place, a lot of people are commuting to well-paid jobs in Glasgow or Edinburgh. But unlike Falkirk, Stirling still has a decent retail offer, so even if the local services are dying a slow death (just like places all over the UK), the inter-urban services should be stronger.

Stirling is unusual though in still having competition on a few corridors – apart from Mackies and Stagecoach there are indies running in from Denny and Fallin. So….maybe First are just trying to make the most of a bad situation.

i was thinking that with the X36 going more directly to glasgow after cumbernauld town centre ,if it dosent pick up as well as they expected they could reroute it from cumbernauld to do the x3 (fglasgow) and keep it an x36 still with every 30 mins .yes it would be a pain if you were travelling all the way but then would you do that from stirling if there was a comfier coach journey . f glasgow could then offload the x3 .

https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/local-news/consultation-changes-stirling-area-bus-12973946

A First Bus consultation exercise on changes to its Stirling area services has come under fire from members of the public and politicians.

The consultation with the public began on Monday of last week and people had only until 7pm on Monday of this week to respond.

First Bus were on Friday between 10am and 5pm giving people the chance to raise questions with one of the company’s managers at Stirling Bus Station.

But the exercise has come under fire for lack of advertising and notice, and the short time period in which people have the chance to respond.

Whins of Milton resident Walter Attwood, who has written to Stirling councillors on the matter, slammed the exercise as “not serious consultation”.

He added: “It is a bureaucratic nod in the direction of a consultation, a tick-box exercise.”

Mr Attwood said the consultation also relied on bus users’ ability to access the internet. “Many older people do not have that,” he said. “Even if they do they may well be reluctant to respond to an online questionnaire.

“It is also highly likely that many bus users will not learn about this consultation because they do not use the bus station.”

Mr Attwood also pointed out that under new timetables only one bus route will serve the new health centre – the 57 Raploch circular.

He added: “None of the areas from which GP surgeries will relocate to the health centre will have a direct bus link to the centre.

“Those people who rely on buses and will be attending clinics at the new health centre from Cowie, Bannockburn, Braehead, Broomridge, Whins of Milton, Cornton and Bridge of Allan will have to travel into the centre of Stirling before catching another bus out. Most of these areas were served by the 54A."

Clackmannanshire and Dunblane MSP Keith Brown said the consultation was first publicised on Monday, July 16, giving people only a week to respond.

The MSP said: “The changes to local bus services being proposed by First Group are significant and will impact on people across Clackmannanshire and Stirling.

“As one of the constituency MSPs for areas which will be heavily impacted by the proposed changes, I did not receive any communication from First Group regarding the proposals, which I was alerted to on social media.

“This is particularly disappointing considering the previous assurances I was given that I would be kept up to date with any developments to local services.

“The consultation is only a week long and considering it is peak holiday period when many community councils and local organisations will not have the opportunity to meet to consider the proposals, I feel it is completely inadequate. Indeed, the only public event being held is in Stirling which people from Clackmannanshire may not manage to attend.

“I have contacted First Group to express my disappointment and to extend the consultation process to allow as many people as possible to engage and make their views known about the proposals. I have also requested a meeting to discuss the matter further.”

Dunblane and Bridge of Allan Green councillor Alasdair Tollemache said the exercise was “consultation in name only.”

He added: “It has been done with very short notice with only a one day face-to-face consultation at Stirling Bus Station, and a very short period for the online survey.

“It’s about time that we re-regulate bus services for the public benefit.”

First Scotland East said it started the consultation with Stirling and Clackmannanshire councils and “other stakeholders” on July 2.

Managing director Andrew Jarvis said that ‘a network review information pack’ was then issued to all “local stakeholders” on July 17 before the information was made public via a press release and through its website and social media channels.

Mr Jarvis added: “We have subsequently sent out posters for display on our buses, and for posting at Stirling Bus Station."

He also pointed to the fact that they hosted a meet the managers consultation event at Stirling Bus Station on Friday and were also inviting customers and stakeholders unable to attend to have their say through the online survey.

He added: "MSP Keith Brown has been in touch directly with me and we are currently arranging to meet to discuss the changes as well as any other concerns he may have around his local area regarding local bus services.

“This is the first time we have undertaken customer consultations of this nature and on this scale in support of proposed network changes and we will naturally look to improve this process going forward.

“While we are aware that these proposals do not please everyone, we hope that by the end of this process, we will be in a position to make the necessary changes that will improve the local bus network to the benefit of as many customers as possible.”

Load of crap.. bit in bold. .

Can't see First Glasgow willingly giving up the X3. Gets good loads and justifies new(ish) buses. The worry for the X36 is that there isn't enough trade if they miss out Condorrat etc.

I have to agree, the Uni is the sole reason why First are hanging around.
A few years back HO considered moving the Unilink to Larbert when First were on the brink of selling off Bannockburn only bad admin stopped the sale to Stagecoach/Rennies
are there any more operators servicing the Uni..apart from First

Was it really Stagecoach we wanted to by the depot? There woudl have taken a hard line to Mackies, and most likely combined no8 service to run as apart of any network. Why was the Admin so bad what happened?

No, first has chased everyone else away, about 10 years ago.

I thought this was the route that was specifically excluded from the final version of the low emission zone to provide access to the bus station and no further.

It seems there will be further public meeting about Livingston service changes for Delridge west. If there had got off there back side in the first place like Craigshill First might have done something about it. Ive also heard there may be meeting in Clackmannanshire about these awful changes.

They have a place for mess room but it needs a lot of work done to it but in the meantime bus station will be used for drivers breaks . There will be a bit of dead journeys to and from retail park to depot for reliefs , same from forth valley hosp.
