Timetable for the 18th May revisions are on First's website, although the Saturday 590-2 ones appear to be Bank Holiday ones. There were some on Metro's site yesterday but they contained a number of duplicated journeys and don't appear to be available at the moment - presumably somebody is having another crack at it.

One thing I did notice is a later Friday/Saturday evening journey from Todmorden to Rochdale and return, which would (I'm pretty sure) be later than anything that has operated in the last 40 years. Not sure if this makes up for the Mon-Thur last bus being almost an hour earlier than currently though.

Also, I've just spotted the last 591 from Halifax to Todmorden extends to Portsmouth on Friday (and I assume Saturday). However, at 2305 this is still 40 minutes earlier than the current last service from Halifax.

Before covid the last bus from Halifax was at 2315 so I imagine the later journey was short lived and probably for operational reasons (running the service from Todmorden depot) rather than any specific need

You may well be right on that, I've no idea how busy the current later journey from Halifax is - long past my bedtime! ;) However, what I maybe should have emphasised was that there will be no eastbound journey from Todmorden later than 2206, which I do regard as a serious loss (although not for me personally).

But - having dug further into First's timetables which unhelpfully present each service and day separately - I've just noticed on Friday (and Saturday?) the 2229* ex Burnley 591 continues into Halifax rather than terminating at Todmorden as it does Mon-Thur, departing Tod at 2303. And it returns from Halifax to Todmorden at 2358 as a 592! So, at least the weekends look a touch better.

Incidentally, during the 15 years I was driving, the 2300 departure from Todmorden to Halifax was always a Millwood garage working - Halifax had no late turns and actually very little mileage at all until Millwood garage's share was much reduced when low-floor single deckers were introduced to the routes.

* - was it really not possible to make it 2230?

Usual Summer P&R changes in York from July 20th, but some additional permanent changes on top. Internal source

July 20th Service Changes
From July 20th, there will be amendments to the Park and Ride services and Service 11:

• Park and Ride services 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, and 59 will all have an arrival into the City Centre by 05:45 (07:45 on Sundays) and a departure from the City at 22:30 daily. This is in addition to the usual summer school holiday increases. At the end of the holidays, the summer frequency will drop, but the extended span of operation will remain.

• Service 11 will be amended to operate every hour, as opposed to the current every 50 minutes. There will be no change to the route.

I’ve heard musings of the 2/3 going to 24h operation as well with an hourly service overnight, but nothing concrete yet

Any news of what's happening regarding the 10L/59 on Leeman Road?

It would seem odd for the 3 to go to 24h operation, given that it doesn't even run an evening service now (last bus from town is 20:13).

Having 24h operation would probably be a huge boon for tourists, as I can't see how they would enforce the "no overnight parking" rule if the car park is open all night - which would potentially open up the possibility of people visiting York for a few days leaving their car in the P&R for the whole of their stay rather than paying the hefty city centre prices as they do now.

P&R boost will be made possible by the Uni services operating a reduced timetable from 8 June, with the end of term:
As the academic year winds down, our University of York services will move to non-term timetables to reflect reduced demand over the summer period. Here’s what’s changing between 8th June and 7th September 2025:

ServiceChange
U1 & U2These services will run to a reduced non-term timetable and will not serve York Sport Village when the facility is closed.
U3 & U4There will be no service over summer.
UN1A reduced timetable will operate on Friday and Saturday evenings only.
