Lewis managed his tyres well which won him the sprint.

Oscar Piastri has qualified on Pole position for the Grand Prix with George Russell in second, Lando Norris in third & Max Verstappen in fourth. Continuing his struggle so far Liam Lawson qualified last whilst both the Racing Bulls made Q3.

RIP to Eddie Jordan - a legendary character who gave a number of young drivers & engineers a chance in F1. Some of the drivers included:
Michael Schumacher, Rubén’s Barrichello, Eddie Irvine, Ralf Schumacher, Pedro de la Rosa & Takuma Sato. He also brung the best out of Heinz-Harald Frentzen who finished 3rd in the 1999 championship.

Some engineers who came through Jordan included Andy Cowell (Aston Martin team principal), Andy Stevenson, Peter Bonington & Rob Smedley.

He then transitioned successfully to becoming a tv pundit with BBC & Channel 4.

The first of many Ferrari screw ups.

Not only a DSQ, but a double DSQ. Not just a double DSQ, but a double DSQ for 2 completely separate reasons.

I worry for Lewis and Charles' blood pressure!

The same one for Pierre Gasly in the Alpine as Charles Leclerc. I wonder if the broken wing affected the tyre wear to put the car under the limit.

Oscar Piastri has won the Chinese Grand Prix with Lando Norris in second despite brake problems & George Russell in third.

Really good race today from Ollie Bearman, turning around the poor weekend in Australia to a really strong race today finishing in the points. Another strong race from Kimi Antonelli winning driver of the day.

Strange race from Max Verstappen with poor pace on the Medium tyre but then improved quite a lot on the harder tyre.

Poor strategy from Racing Bulls not noticing that the one stop became possible with the second stop costing them dearly.

If the overseas outlets are to be believed, apparently Tsunoda to Red Bull (swapping with Lawson) is happening sooner rather than later!
Red Bull must be in a panic - they have been dead against Yuki getting a chance mainly, I am told, because he is a Honda man. It now seems being a Honda man is the reason he IS getting a chance!

Be hilarious if Lawson jumps back to competitive in RB and Tsnuoda struggles. Apparently Verstappen was quoted in Dutch papers as thinking it was too soon and harsh as the car is hard to drive.

The musical chairs between RB and RB is getting tiresome.

perhaps Verstappen should ask for a move to Racing Bulls! ;)

He should have been there in the first place if RB want to win the constructors

perhaps - but Red Bull have been dead against Yuki until now mainly because he was a Honda man - that they have given him a chance shows they must be in a state of total confusion.

What happens when he fails to be a what Red Bull want: A world class driver who is no threat to Verstappen but can lap just as fast without challenging but win when he needs to so as to stop McLaren winning without actually wining himself?

Welp, it was confirmed a few hours ago that Lawson has indeed been demoted, and Yuki moved up to Red Bull in his place.

It's now do-or-die for Yuki.

I want Yuki to do well, but will laugh if he's out in Q1 and Lawson gets further in a VCARB

I have to admit, I think Red Bull have boxed themselves into a corner. It's clear that the car is designed around Max, which is fine and well if he's either winning or coming close to winning. But Max needs a strong teammate more than ever, and there's simply no-one out there who will be capable of doing what Max can do with the car.

I don't think Horner is particularly to blame, because when you have a talent like Max, it probably was the best move to build the car around him. It's just that they've gone too far in that direction, and now the car is no longer the beast that it was in 2022-2023. You also have to wonder how much the various departures from the team side have hurt them.

Not the most entertaining "race" today.
No crashed, no mechanical failures, one minor pit lane incident: very little to laugh at at all.

I like the occasionally mooted idea that the grid should be in reverse order of the points position after the previous race. ATM when cars start out of their natural order due to penalties etcetera we do see some good racing

I do not like Verstappen, but I'm surprised Norris did not get a penalty for that; it was very clearly an unsafe release...

I don’t agree. The ’average’ races make exceptional races all the more special.

But every race is "average". The pole sitter leads a parade to victory. Makes qualifying more important than the race.

It was a really good drive from Max Verstappen to win the race withstanding any pressure McLaren could give. McLaren should have tried a different strategy with one car as following Max around will garuntee this result. Max part won the race with his brilliant lap in qualifying.

It wasn't an unsafe release Verstappen was clear enough for Norris to follow he saw an opportunity which wasn't there and lost valuable time would have been on his tale and got DRS and could have challenged.

Glad I watched the “highlights” rather than the whole race….
