I recieved an email from HR on Thursday with my medical arranged for today.
I know last week HR were crazy busy and they were planning on getting all the medicals out asap. I imagine the rest will be getting sorted this week. Depends how this lockdown effects everyone now though I suppose.
I know you said it’s 100% happening mate, but I can’t see it myself!
I hope it does, there’s a lot of us who have been waiting for this for a long time, but I just can’t see them having us in a classroom all together!
I know we’re a few weeks off but I can’t see this virus going anytime soon.
Alright mate did you say you had done you dbs check? If so who did you go through?
Yes mate, I just went through the gov website. It was really easy and mine came through in the post today.
Ok mate thanks, you just gonna send that off to hr now then or you gonna wait for further instructions?
You get a paper certificate which you recieve through the post and then also you get a link to view it online a couple of days before the letter arrives. I just forwarded on the link and access code to HR.
Ah ok mate thanks, have you heard anything else from Tracey?
No not yet mate, I left her a voicemail yesterday but I know she's a very busy lady. I will chase her up tomorrow because I want to check she has recieved my DBS check and also my medical results should have reached her by today as well.
Ah ok mate cool, give us a shout when you hear anything
Yeah of corse mate.
Hi guys, they are still doing medicals in these days of lockdown.
I had mine today.
That's good news, which depot have you applied for mate ?
I applied for Wembley.
So they are still sending people for medicals, this is a good sign
I've just got off the phone to Tracey from HR and she has confirmed that it is a bit up in the air at the moment whether the course is going to go ahead on May 4th or not yet because of Covid-19. She is finishing up all the bits she has to do regarding medicals and DBS checks and forwarding them to a woman called Sheree who should be in contact with us in the next week. They are aware most of us need to give 4 weeks notice at our current employers and aim to inform us of what's going on by the 1st April. She said not to panic though we will be on that course when it starts, regardless of when that will be.
Nice one tommy, i wonder how long they may have to postpone it for..
Cheers @Tommy89 for the update, at least we know it’s just a matter of time till we’re on the course once everything blows over!.. Do you think it worth me doing my DBS check now or waiting for further instruction from Tracey, as I haven’t had my medical yet?
I would imagine they would be pretty keen to get us started once this is all over if they do postpone it mate.
Might be worth giving Tracey a call if you haven't had a date for your medical yet mate, and she'll advise you on the DBS then.
Was she happy with your dbs on the gov website? Mines taking ages to do the Digidentity thing!
Yes she seemed happy with it mate, she just said she'd recieved it along with my medical and all was okay and she's now forwarding it on to a woman called Sheree that will be in contact soon.
Might be interesting to see a ‘show of hands’ as to who has a place on the first course and what depot they are going to...?
The first course was 18 months ago
Ahhh but that was in the old world, pre covid-19.
This is a whole new era.
Once the dust had settled from this plague, knuckle heads like me need someone to look up to, someone to aspire to, so we can rebuild our broken dreams.
It will be these guys and gals that will give us the inspiration to go forward... to build self belief if you will?
To believe that we too can, one day, pull on the coveted orange jackets, emblazeded with the Freightliner badge, and cruise the rails like modern day knights.
Please don’t shatter the dreams of this young man
Crewe depot, in may
Have you had your medical yet mate?
