Here is what I am referencing too here. Great Northern maybe getting the 379s. Then maybe 387s go to Southern? 387s has in cab signaling and if the 387 cascade to Southern goes ahead if the 379s were to go to GN? Then, as I believe that the 387s has the ETCS. Then whe n the signaling systems moves down to Three Bridges. I think that the 387s would be adaptable to the new signaling system? What inference are you drawing here? Why does signalling work at Three Bridges have an impact on the future use of 379s?
Only the “387/1a” sub-subfleet. Great Northern /1s to be fitted, but no other 387s in scope yet.387s has in cab signaling…
The Three Bridges Digital thingy has nothing to do with any sort of in-cab signalling. It's more to do with replacing the old relay-based (aka analogue) systems of Three Bridges ASC with more modern (aka digital) systems, simple as that. Oh, and it also sounds fancy. Then, as I believe that the 387s has the ETCS. Then whe n the signaling systems moves down to Three Bridges. I think that the 387s would be adaptable to the new signaling system?
The two things are not connected. The engineering works have been rescheduled, but it’s not due to any GTR fleet changes. Here is what I am referencing too here. Great Northern maybe getting the 379s. That would make sense to be fair - a 700 on a Southern metro service would make much more sense than on a Great Northern outer suburban/regional service at least in theory. I suppose it would depend on what plans GTR have/might have for the 387s as these are in effect the most important piece of the puzzle for the potential mass cascade.A bit pie in the sky, but might it make sense in any reshuffle to free up 8-car 700s which could be used on Southern metro services? I wonder if you could have one set of services booked for the spare 700s (something like Victoria-LBG which would benefit from the increased standing room and metro-style layout) so that you could have more slack in the 377 fleet, or even bring a pre-covid service back (split the mole valley services back into stopping and semi-fast for example?)
Yet...Only the “387/1a” sub-subfleet. Great Northern /1s to be fitted, but no other 387s in scope yet.
Cab desk, 19” racks, wiring harnesses… presumably all from scratch as it’s now Alstom rather than Bombardier ETCS.But yes the there's only 387101 fitted with ETCS Equipment Fully - other 387/1s are being fitted with the external equipment, ready to fit the gubbins in the cab.
Well its all Alstom ETCS, only HEX was Bombardier. Although the design for the external stuff caries over, internally, not. But the idea is it could be fitted, with minor adjustments to any Electrostar.Cab desk, 19” racks, wiring harnesses… presumably all from scratch as it’s now Alstom rather than Bombardier ETCS.
You do realise that Wiki, which pretty much anyone can edit, is hardly authoritative l assume? The rumours posted on here may have prompted someone to make that edit.Seems like the 379s will be going to Great Northern now, it's on the Wikipedia page now.
Wikipedia is not going off rumours, its going off this.
