As someone closed the previous thread down Here
Minor update from the local MP:-
"Work on our successful Restoring Your Railway bid for the South Fylde line has already begun.
The Government backed the scheme, to install a passing loop on the line and double services, and handed us up to £50,000 funding to form a Strategic Outline Business case for the next phase of the programme.
We took part in an initial workshop to look at the next steps needed, and have now met with Fylde Council and Network Rail about various parts of the project.
Although only a short document, the business case needs a huge amount of work carrying out and we are looking at the costs for Network Rail and an experienced engineering firm to provide us with estimates and projections for the line.
We will have to look at timings on the wider rail network and capacity at Preston Station as part of that document.
I'm grateful for Community Rail Lancashire who are sharing their expertise and partnering with us on the project; I am determined we will see at least two services per hour on this under-used line, making it a viable option for commuters, students, residents and tourists."
