I was told Basingstoke Station, I think they'll send me to the training centre at one point though, because they'll still need information like my bank details, and other stuff.

What station will you be working in?

I will be working at Southampton Central.

I have my induction at Basingstoke with you though. I'm in Basingstoke Monday, up to Waterloo Tuesday morning and then back to basingstoke in the afternoon. Then on Wednesday I get to meet my manager and the people I'll be working with in Southampton. No idea what happens after all that though, we'll probably find out on Monday.

After meeting your manager and colleagues you go back to Basingstoke to the Recruitment and Selection centre for some training, Ticketing, Disability awareness, Safety and security and Conflict awareness, oh and of course Customer service.

This takes up about 10 days (weekdays only) and then you go to your home station for Barrier training and then you work together with a "coach" at the gates for a few weeks until they leave you on your own!

Phew, I think I've covered it!

Thanks for that dude! On the Tuesday, in Basingstoke, we have "safety and customer awareness training" but that's all it mentions!

By home station, is that the one I will be working at or one near to where I live?

We do indeed, thats what we have to go to Waterloo for. Means I have to be on the 06:24 from Fratton :(.

You'd better start getting used to that! Early Gateline shifts can start as early as 6am! Mine is 6:30am so I always take the 05:54 Hampton Court train in the mornings to get to Clapham! This means getting up at 5 or earlier depending on how long it takes you to spruce up ;)

Home Station = The one where you'll be based, ie Southampton Central! I must come and visit you sometime! :D

Uniforms are one of the best parts, I was pretty amazed at what they gave us, and the quality of it is brilliant. Needless to say I don't like Ironing...!

I suppose it is best to train in familiar surroundings. Would be nice to finally put a face to the name. As long as you don't come along and cause any trouble.....

The uniform is very similar to what my dad has to wear, he is a bus driver for stagecoach ;). His seems to be really good quality, the opposite end of the scale to the uniform I wore before .

Training is something like 9-4 Mon-Fri

Gateline Waterloo is:
Earlies: 6:15-2:15 Mon-Thurs and 8-3 Sun. Fri and Sat is 6:15-2:45.

Late shifts are 14:30-22:30 Mon-Thurs and Sun. Fri/Sat lates are 15:00-23:30. This may not be 100% correct but it's along these lines. You'll be given a full roster after the training.

You may find that sometimes you cover the Subway barriers at Waterloo during the peak periods (06:15-10 on earlies or 4-8 on lates or something like that) and then go back up to the main barriers for the rest of the shift.

I heard Waterloo Gateline can do Overtime on top of your 37h Contract, lucky you as we're barred from doing Overtime at Clapham, they just get agency in

Same with me, in Retail the uniform they provided me with is crap, it's good that SWT care alot about their staff's appearance by giving decent uniform!
