Perhaps Nigel Farage - he used to do a special 2 hour show every Sunday when he was on LBC. It could also be Portillo - that might be why the Political Correction is back. There is also John Cleese who will be presenting a show at some point.
Nigel already has a show on weekday evenings though, and whilst he did host The Political Correction for a few weeks in addition to this weekday show, it’s probably a bit too much.

Good thought on John Cleese, an obscure slot on weekends might be good for him! Similar for Portillo, his show is very much suited for a weekend afternoon.

Do people still watch Nigel Farage? Now the migrant crisis is being talked about on the BBC again, who cares if he's standing at Dover ranting at clouds boats?

How 'special' would a Nigel Farage show be? He apparently lives at GB, wind him up and that mouth starts spouting the usual rubbish interjected with an utterly inappropriate laugh. About time the Trades Description Act was brought to bear.

He already has four shows a week - only an hour in length, so they go quite quickly. The two-hour shows that Nigel used to do on LBC were special as this would allow him to have an extended debate with a guest, who usually would have very different opinions.

Is Farage still doing that cringeworthy “chat” show with a pint?

I would have thought that any show with Farage would seem to be interminably long: at least it would be to me.

Do you actually watch his programmes? Because it’s nothing like what would be suited to US Republicans or loony right!

I've seen his clips, and it's all "privatise the NHS, evil EU, Remainers are crybabies, question woke xxxx (insert professional group of choice), planned pandemic, question vaccines, repeat".

Perhaps his show is more than just that, but that's what GB News chooses to focus on. I don't blame them from a numbers point of view: a quick look on YouTube shows that anything about vaccines gets roughly 10-15x more views than his other content.

Even more confusing about the Sunday morning “politics” slot, just been announced on Dan Wootton’s show that from January Sunday mornings from 9.30am - 11am Camilla Tominey (who Dan calls a “superstar” but whom I’ve never heard of) will be hosting a show. Apparently Portillo then comes on afterwards.

Camilla was a presenter on LBC for a few months. Does this mean Portillo's show will only be an hour long? Also, Laurence Fox is starting a show at 7PM today - presumably it will mean Patrick Christys' show will be reduced by an hour.

GB News’ former Director of News and Programmes John McAndrew, who was jettisoned at an early stage, has joined the BBC as Director of News Programmes. He seems to be cut from the same cloth as Andrew Neil: to the right of centre, but still basically a journalist first. One wonders if he is a bit of a compromise: sufficiently to the right to not upset the government and its placemen among the governors, but still sufficiently a journalist not to have the staff and supporters up in arms.

I thought he quit early on and went on record to slate the channel and its direction?

My reading was that it was a bit of a case of ‘did he go or was he pushed?’

If he said anything about the direction of the channel, I am sure it's quite possible he was given a gentle nudge.

I have no idea why some people got involved, given the financial backing that must have told everyone what the channel was (is) about. I guess some people saw the pound signs in their eyes and were willing to sell their soul.

It would appear that Calvin Robinson will be leaving the channel - he states on Twitter that his 'Common Sense Crusade' show on 18th December will be the last on GB News. He also says "Expect changes in the New Year". It seems he will be on a platform called "Gettr":-
I am pleased to announce that my Common Sense Crusade is heading to
@GETTRofficial
in time for Christmas! Starting 19th December. Every Monday, 7-8 PM GMT. A current events livestream from a faith perspective. Top topics, great guests, Christ-centred.

Gettr:

Gettr is an alt-tech social media platform and microblogging site targeting American conservatives. It was founded by Jason Miller, a former Donald Trump aide, and was officially launched on July 4, 2021. Its user interface and feature set have been described as very similar to those of Twitter. Wikipedia

"A brand new social media platform founded on the principles of free speech, independent thought and rejecting political censorship and “cancel culture”."

So, if he was ever pretending to be neutral before (he wasn't) then this is pretty much proof.

And just wait and see when they start cancelling any comments they don't agree with in their right-wing echo chamber.

Quite a churn of staff at this place.
He wasn’t even one of the original presenters and this show has only started recently. Wonder if he will still continue as a panelist on the various shows he is on.

Inaya Folarin Iman also announced yesterday that she will be leaving. She hasn’t really had a role since the Sunday afternoon programmes. Not many of the original presenters or correspondents left. Gloria de Piero, Michelle Dewberry, Dan Wootton, Alastair Stewart, Neil Oliver, Andrew Doyle, Tom Harwood, Paul Hawkins, Nana Akua, Liam Halligan, Darren McCaffery and Arlene Foster are the only ones off the top of my head.

It would appear that Calvin Robinson will be leaving the channel - he states on Twitter that his 'Common Sense Crusade' show on 18th December will be the last on GB News. He also says "Expect changes in the New Year". It seems he will be on a platform called "Gettr":-

He hasn’t actually said he will be leaving, the most recent tweet in reply to someone asking if he was leaving the channel has said it’s the last of 2022 - aside from a Christmas day special.

That makes sense - perhaps his show will be moved to a different slot?

Regardless of whether he's leaving or not he's a massive grifter. He had his banner picture as Enoch Powell recently until someone told him to change it.

He couldn't get ordained in the CoE so he's with this weird sect called the FCE who are even weirder.

I suspect the high staff turnover is a result of the channel trying to prune the ‘dead wood’. I do think there are quite a few shows that are doing very well - Farage particularly - his live shows are always packed and I always enjoy them. He often beats Sky News in the ratings - as do Mark Steyn and Dan Wootton.

I’m not sure that’s quite fair - he is certainly a ‘marmite figure’ though.

I’ve noticed whilst watching Farage tonight that most of the adverts were national rather than the Welsh adverts. Perhaps the advertisers are finally realising the large audience they were missing.

I don't know how much the welsh advertisers were paying, but I suspect they got many more showings than they expected!

They frequently beat Sky News during prime time and on occasion BBC News.

GB News has for the first time averaged more prime time viewers over a month than Sky News.

In the period from 22 November to 21 December, the opinion-led broadcaster managed an average 57,107 viewers in the evenings, versus 52,230 for Sky.

The channel also averaged more prime time viewers than Sky in 17 out of the 30 days in that period.

Which still makes it less than 0.1% of the population of UK .
It has on average 57,000 viewers during an evening news ( Sky approx 52,000) while during the daytime lags far behind Sky News .

I never understood why they were predominantly Welsh businesses. Can anyone shed some light on it?

If you look further up thread I asked this question several months ago - and nobody seemed to know at the time. It wasn’t predominantly Welsh companies; most adverts were national, but of the ‘local’ adverts the majority were companies based in south west Wales.

Wasn't there a problem that the major ad agencies had 'blacked' GB News, so that some of the major advertisers could not get their ads on GB News? If I remember correctly, GB News recently moved their ad business from London to Manchester, and that enabled them to tap into some different agencies which represented some national advertisers.
