Does any one know how long before 66 717-727/730/732 repaints will be complete.Does anyone know if 66578-581 be painted as I have heard they are now with GBRf. Will all the Eurotunnel 92s be painted. How long before GBRf get Colas Rails 66 841-845 and how long before 66 401-405s renumbering and repaint is complete.
Thanks

Well TRUK says that the First-liveried 66's, (66723-727, 730 and 732) will be repainted first to get rid of the old corporate logo. 401-405 are visiting Longport for air-conditioning units to be fitted in the cab plus repainting and renumbering into the 7xx series (they will become 733-737) with 405 being completed so far. 578 hasn't been taken on lease as far as I'm aware, only 579-581 have. 579 is initially being used as a source of spares before being returned to traffic. 580 and 581 are out and about, I saw them at Peterborough on Thursday. I don't think they will be painted because they're initially on a 1 year lease. 841-845 will be because they're being bought by GBRF outright. As for the 92's I'm not sure, but I will expect as traffic grows they will be repainted. As for the timescale, I don't know, but I expect that they won't be repainted just yet because GBRF are in dire need of traction, and they're using everything they've got, and have even had to hire in a Deltic and a 47 to help out. Hope this helps. :)

I presume the Freightliner stored locomotives are just to help with stock problems. Does anyone know where 47580 is working and how long before Royal Scots Grey and County of Essex will stock being used by GBRf.

I have seen reports on wnxx that GBRf have bought 579-581 so I would expect them to get a repaint at some point.

Will they be renumbered 66743-745 after the Current Colas Fleet (which will become 66 738-742)

Indeed, the 5 ex FL and (soon to be) 4 ex colas locos have beeen bought out right at a cost of £13m for all 9 locos.

Yes they will all be renumbered at some point to bring in line with the rest of the fleet.

Who will take on 66 411-420, I know that Colas will take five (what will these be renumbered to) but what about the other five?

Ahh yes, I've just checked WNXX and that seems to be the case. And 5 ex FL locos and 4 Colas ones? Are you sure its not the other way round, because Colas have 5, 841-845 and GBRF have taken 579-581 from the 578-581 batch. And on WNXX it says that 579-581 have been taken on plus two from Colas's batch, with 843 and 844 the ones expected to join them. I'm not try to rubbish your information, its just what I've read, but if this is the case, GBRF really are growing well! As for the numbering I would expect 841-845 to become 738-742 because of the fact they used to be 406-410 and so would therefore be following on from the 401-405 batch, and then 743-746 to be allocated to 578-581. If they have all been taken on this is. :)

I Know the Colas locos will be renumbered like this and I presumed the Stored Freightliner Locomotives would follow in this trend. Is there nothing stopping GBRf taking on the other stored Freighliner locos (66507/544/546at Leeds Midland Road, 66547/551/552/613 at Crewe Basford Hall and 66573/574 at Dagenham)

It may well be 5 Colas and 4 Ex FL, but what ever the liveries it is definitely 9 further class 66 we have aqquired out right.

Just to say that in my Platform 5 Locomotive Pocket Bock which was printed at the start of October says Leeds Midland Road. Well I suppose then it would have still been at LD (Leeds Midland Road)

Colas Rail locos should be off lease now. Might be wrong but they should be now on there way to GBRf. Any updates on DRS 66s (storing of 66411-420 or painting of 66302?). And finally any updates of painting for GBRf.
Thanks, Sam.

So with 66401-66405 becoming 66733-66737, I'd imagine 66841-66845 will become 66738-66742 and 66578-66581 will become 66743-66746.

DRS are supposedly ending up with 66 301-305/421-434 and a 20th Class 66 (former Freightliner Loco) and have planned on getting 20 Class 67 style locos. They will paint 66 302 in Malcom livery and 66 434 in Stobart Livery while the rest of the 66/3s will end up in DRS Livery.
GBRf 66 579-581 will may send these back when they get the Colas 66/8s and GBRf will not get any 70s (due to cost).
DB may paint there locos in DB Red livery after they've counted the cost of painting them.

its been known for a number of weeks that DRS have taken on the ex fastline 66/3s... check any manazgine in newsagents or even the "e-zine" Railway Herald

66302 has already been released from repaint into DRS blue... its been taken to the Carlisle DRS Kingmoor Kingmoor depot
check www.wnxx.com and its forum...

if you read the magazine (Railways Illustrated) then you will see that there have been talks and plans made to order a UK loading Gauge Vossloh Eurolight loco... but NO order has been placed... and is unlikely to be placed untill the exchange rate is a bit better...

the news about GBRf not wanting class 70s because of cost... has been published in "Railways Illustrated" but was also reported in its sister magazine "Modern Railways" 1 or 2 issues ago...

kindly take note of the "dislaimer" in "Railways Illustrated"... specifically the "rumour" section that not everything in it will turn out to be true and to remember that when posting on internet forums.

Sorry I worded it wrong, I meant they are supposedly getting a 20th Class 66 and may order 20 Locos are the exchange and I hadn't checked WNXX before I posted. The rumor only applies to back section which I didn't post anything from.
Note to self- buy different railway magazines. I don't have money to buy every railway magazine!

Cost is one factor for not getting the 70's the other is the teething troubles they have had.

Not sure where the rumour that GB may send back 66's 579-581 has come from but it is not true. They have been bought outright the same as the Colas 66's.

Whats happening with the 73's regarding repaints? With 73208 in BR blue, 73203? in Large logo and 73205 now in Intercity livery (which looks pretty dam good) are there any more plans to pain the rest in heritage colours?

I believe 73207 is in BR LARGE LOGO, 73208 is in Blue and none in Intercity.

Interesting, so it's from July when the Colas 66s potentially start to transfer over to GB - The paint's only just dried on 66845 from Arlingtons repaint at Eastleigh!
